I wanted a rack system that can carry bikes, skis, snowboards, inflatable kayaks and other miscellaneous stuff. I stumbled across the Yakima EXO system which was very versatile but quite expensive. It also had some shortcomings with stability and clearance. This is my latest version/variant using the base EXO swing arm. I was able to mount my favorite 1up rack without having to spend $400+ for their top shelf add on. It also keep the clearance to under 6' 6" so it will fit in most parking structures. I was also able mount a cargo carrier/ice chest using the Lifetime 77 quart box and existing components. I could have opted for the 110 quart unit but that was way more than I need at this time.

Just wondering what other people are doing when they want to bring all their toys along for the ride.

At first glance, I thought Yakima was making shipshape roofracks.

Is your ice chest refrigerated? Otherwise, doesn't it warm up faster outside in the sun than inside with the A/C on?
