Yes, you definitely have to adjust you're driving position in 1st gear.

PS I also will squirt WW Fluid inadvertently when going for the shifter, due to their close proximity.

They put the shifter higher in the first Odysseys and got a lot of complaints on that; they figured it would be better lower for the Pilot.

Have the pilot for about 100 miles now. . . the shift lever is a little balky. Not the easiest thing to get used to, as it sometimes wants to ride to D3, rather than just D. And putting it in 1 does make it hit your knee. . .
