Am I the only one whose dash (various areas - drivers side footwell for example, drivers side where seatbelt hits) area has started showing scratches from minor impact? This is ridiculous because if this vehicle was intended to be used with families that have active children which mine aren't yet, I'm just curious how this vehicle is going to wear over time. Any thoughts?

I notice that the black surfaces in the center console (that have sort of a golf ball dimple pattern) can be scratched so easily, it's ridiculous. I figured out the first day it can be scratched with a finger nail. I've been careful ever since but it still has the same two scratches. It will look like $#|+ in a few years.

Why on earth would they use a material like that in a area where you toss change, CDs, sunglasses, keys, tire gage, and all manner of sharp metal objects. It's like a bad joke.

Same here. many areas seem to have plastic that dents or scratches very easily.

I recently noticed a deep scratch on the grey plastic to the side of the console. Anyone else have any scratches here? Also our radio know is scratched. When I asked my other 1/2 I was told, oh, yeah, maybe that was from the plank of wood I carried home from Home Depot....Go figure.

I don't think you quite got the spirit of the problem.

Wouldn't complain about that stray 2X4 scratching the car after leaving the Home Depot. The scratching we are talking about is from light typical wear and tear that never showed marks on my older cars even when I had them 10 years. The material is very soft and prone to scratching and marking.

Think of it this way- your wife lugged the lumber around and you didn't lift a finger- seems like decent return for a few scratches.

:D I applied armor all the first time thus no scratches, although the dash looks shiny!

I have a few scratches on the side of the center console and around the dash. I was thinking of getting the aluminum interior trim kits sold on ebay to cover the scratches. I posted a question a while back to see if anyone had installed aluminum trim kit and asked to post pictures, but no one responded.

We also have some scratches on the plastic on the side of the center console armrest, but I know what they are from. It's from my rings, when I buckle my seat belt. I try to be careful, but there they are....we have the same problem in our Honda Accord. :(

It might comfort you (at least a little) to know that removing these scratches isn't as difficult (or impossible) as you may think. I just had an amp installed under the passenger seat, and to my dismay, I found 3 pretty good scratches in the gray plastic on the side of the console. When I pointed it out to the shop that did the installation, he apologized and said they'd take care of it; that it wasn't as bad as it looked (I was skeptical). But sure enough, he had their touch-up specialist fix it, and it looks fine.

Often, there are guys who travel around and stop in, say, once a week at most dealers and can fix these problems using an airbrush, etc. Most of the repairs can be fixed inexpensively.

If interested, you might stop by your dealer or a good body shop and inquire about it.

This is for WWong. Take a look at the Wood Dash thread. One of the last posts shows the aluminum dash kit in great detail

wwong , would the 3M material that you provided for the inside console bottoms also work for lining the top of the door? It would have to be cut carefully and glued or taped in place, but I'm sure that you would also have access to a good adhesive. It would have the side effect of providing a non-slip surface. What do you think?

I actually have manually cut the foam to fit over the sliding door. It does work. You can open and close the sliding door without any problems. It's just not real professional looking since I cut it by hand. I am getting more of the neoprene foam in soon. As soon as I get a chance, I plan to include this with the center console pads I was selling.

I'd like to get just the console cover from you since I already received the other pieces (in two days BTW, thanks!). I'll send you an email.
