I've seen snippits here and there about people checking out your Pilots (ours is due to arrive early July :17:) and giving their opinion.

Just looking to get a sense of the public reaction to the Pilot as you've been tooling around.

Admirers? Gawkers? Jealousy?

Have you caused any accidents or traffic jams from the rubber neckers looking to get a view?

I'm being a bit dramatic here but you get my point. :12:

Admiration

I've had nothing but curious admiration for mine in almost every parking lot I go to. I feel like a Honda salesman (except we know more about these than the salesmen do (LOL).);)

Everyone I've talked to said it looked great and they were really impressed with the inside.

However, Honda needs to do better marketing because virtually everyone has said "Isn't that the new Honda thing?"

Pilot is not exactly a household word yet. Fine with me!:D

Hmmmmm

OK....how come no one ever checks out my Pilot? I've had mine for over two weeks now, and NO ONE checks it out....not while driving....not while parked. I'll even say to my wife...."watch...I'll drive right next to that CR-V (or Odyssey or MDX) and I'll bet they don't even glance over". Everytime....same response....NOTHING!!! I'm not a showoff....but I am surprised about the lack of interest (or more likely...knowledge). I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT HAVASU BLUE!!!! You can't help noticing.....it's a "love it or hate it" color.

Pilot unknown...

I have to agree with WNY.
Here in Canada - very few people seem to know what a Pilot is.
Consequently, I've had only a few people ask me about my wheels.

I think it may have to do with the a) lack of advertising here; and b) conservative styling. Let's face it, the Pilot is NOT a showy vehicle by design - and I think many folk just think it's a CRV. Only when you park beside a CRV do people look twice and say - hey, what's that big Honda????

Not much notice here either in No. CA

Since the Pilot styling is similar to the CR-V, I think most people just see it as this. It's not as distinctive as the MDX--nothing else looks like the X. Once, I even walked up to a silver CR-V and thought it was my Pilot (which was 3 cars down the street). But, I prefer the styling of the Pilot over the MDX. The Pilot is less angled, more rectangular, thus is roomier inside without being larger outside.

Thumbs Up

Here in Northern VA I have had several gawkers. Even had a guy honk his horn and give me the thumbs up sign as we were driving down the road.

Only had it for a few days, less than 200 miles. No reaction at all as yet. Even more curious, when I announced to family members that we bought a new Pilot, the reaction has been - "What's that?"

Here in Hawaii

I bought mine three days agao and have been to the dealer every day since ... Every time I pull into the lot .... everyone stares ... and when I get back to the car there is a crowd around the truck trying to peek through the windows. Also, plenty of stares on the road ...

The first week I had a number of people ask me about it. It has gone down since then but I also haven't had it as many places since. It seems if the ads are really running people are asking.

I did hit a lot of what djs found, 'What's that?'. It seems the old marketing blitz needs to be turned up a little for the public. It seems the Pilot Nutz like myself (and most of this forum) are the ones who have heard of and bought one. Of course our deposits were also down back in April when we could first starting putting them down. It probably would have been down in January after they were unveiled but the dealer had nothing to accept it for at that time!

As the summer goes on and the options finish getting installed I think the following will increase. I actually had the GM of my dealership call and ask to take it for a test drive since he was out the week it came in!

I, too, have gotten surprisingly little reaction -- I think it's my color (silver). There must be a zillion silver SUVs on the road right now (I actually tried to get into a silver Highlander one day at the movie theater ... forgot that I had parked a million miles away to avoid dents. ... I actually didn't notice until I started losing it over the dings that had appeared during the space of one movie. Was my face red!!:p )

Anyway, I just told the kids yesterday, "We should have gotten the Havasu Blue...then we would have gotten noticed...."

I took a Granite Green MDX for a test drive and had people staring and looking all around -- one mom even yelled out, "Nice car!"
