Post if you have 100k+ miles on your Pilot!

Yup, I'm nearing 100k miles. Probably hit it on my way home from work. The Pilot still runs like a new car. I'm proud to say with 100k miles I've only had one problem requiring a trip to the dealership. At 80k the driver's power window motor went out. Other then that, this things just keeps on going and going and going. I just recently had a new set of tires put on and new brakes.

Now everytime I bring it to the dealer for a regular oil change they keep trying to sell me all other sorts of preventative services. What general preventative maintenance would you reccomend so I can keep this rig running for another 100k? On the flipside what things would you just leave alone and let the thing break down before doing anything?

typical metal scrapping on metal noise, then after a while it would screech after a few miles for maybe 1/4 mile then stop screeching, put it up on a rack and easily identified the noisy bearing , notan easy job to replace....

Thanks Dan,
I have a whine type noise, but it is not always there. Only when I accelerate, but not all the time. It shifts smooth and there is no scraping, or screeching sound. At least not yet.
Just went over 130K last week

Other than regular maintainence, replaced one front wheel bearing and compliance bushing (under warranty). I am doing drain/fill on AT fluid and diff fluid every 15K these days. It is a bit of overservice for the A/T, but it makes me sleep better. Thinking of a Crosstour, but, it is nice not having a car payment right now.

Lets keep this thread to the subject matter.
160k on "04

Rear brake pads @65k, struts 125k, lower control arms @156k. I did the previous at home. Found the whole strut assy. & lower control arms on line. Its easier to do the whole assy's. at the price I paid. VTN twice.
Dealer drain & flush trans.
I do have the whine from the front end. Jackshaft ? What is it specificly ?
the jackshaft bearing / carrier bearing is a carrier bearing near the end of a jackshft on the passenger side of the trans, it allows both the right and lft side axle shafts to be the same length, the distance from the trans to teh drivers side wheel only requires an axle shaft, to keep the passengers side axle shaft the same length and the distance is much longer they have a jackshaft to make up the difference........ hope that helps a little, a whining noise can come from a # of different places Dan T
Thank You. Does the Pilot have a thrust bearing, universal joint, on the axle. Sorry its obvious that front wheel dives are a bit of a mystery to me.
there is a cv joint @ each end of each axle, like a front drive car.
Is the CV joint the possible cause of the screeching noise mentioned on various forums. It is noticible during acceleration ?
Thank You
the cv joint is a pretty robust part, failure usually comes from torn boots allowing dirt to enter and displace the grease...... they usually clunk and grind and make some racket nearing failure.......
134K miles on my 03. Just slapped on some new tires and heading for 200K.
Got the timing chain- belts done at 95K.

This thing is still going strong.
How can you tell if you have a wheel bearing problem??? I have a mechanic telling me I have the early signs of the left front wheel bearing failing. I do not feel or hear any problem?? Any suggestions??
2003 pilot 198,000

Bought new, drive it everyday, includes towing package and did tow a small light weight camper for a few months.
No major problems although one of the quicky oil change franchises recently changed the oil and replaced my oversized plug with a new standard size and all of the oil drained out.
When I noticed the puddle I drove back to the shop less than a mile away and they couldn't get a reading on the stick.
They refilled with poil and I had a new oil pan put on within days.
I seem to hear more "pecking" from my engine since this incident.
If I incurred damage what do you think would be the most noticible indication?
pecking...clicking? When is that most obvious?

don't buy a pilot from this man. Wonder if he changes the oil.

I just traded my 2004 Pilot EX-L AWD w/navi in on a new 2011 Pilot EX-L AWD w/navi, she had 165,000 miles on it and it was still running like a "bat out of hell". She was my every day driver and she looked great. I hated to trade her in, but I was starting to worry about things starting to be needing to be replaced and didn't want to spend a lot of money on her with that kind of mileage, and I really wanted the newer model of the Pilot.
Just hit 100k on our 2003 EX-L have had the car since 84k, no problems just changed the trans fluid. Runs great knock on wood. Actually had a camera around to capture the moment.

Just hit 100k last week in the wife's 04 EX AWD/Res. Bought it last year at 90k. Just changed the oil to Mobil1 0w20 and still running strong. I'm also getting ready to swap the timing belt out next month (105k miles or 7 years). Need to do the brake fluid ASAP too.

So far since we've bought it I've done the following:
- Drivers door lock solenoid
- Rear diff fluid
- Trans fluid 3x3
- Power steering suction hose o-ring
- Power steering fluid
- Washer fluid
- OEM wiper inserts
- Rear inner door handels
- Spark plugs (NGK copper V-power)
- Rear blower motor speed-control fix

2003 EX with 147k. Running fine at the moment.

Trans failed and was replaced at 40k due to dealer (Honda) negligence in forgeting to replace fluid after flush.

Differential failed at 130k again due to dealer negligence in changing fluid.

Other than those 2 dealer caused issues and the fact that I get 13 mpg, I've been happy.

You are now going to a different dealer, then, I take it?
