They're only mandatory in Quebec, though.
The rest of Canada is just a recommendation (although I wish it was mandatory there too. A bit tired of driving around "cows on ice" when the first freezing rain hits).
2006 with 144,000 miles. We bought in 2014 with 39,000 miles so we have put on over 100,000. All maintenance has been done on time including the timing belt at around 100,000. Due to our climate in Western WA, it still looks as good a new. No rust anywhere on the underside except for the muffler which is starting to show its age.
