I mistakenly took off the plastic that covers the paint right in front of the rear wheels. I thought that the dealer just missed it when they prepped the car, but now I realize that it must be there to protect the paint from rocks that the front tires throw up. Should I ask the dealer to put that plastic back on?

Ummm

Tell them it just fell off while you were driving down the road ... Scrape it a few times against the pavement ... and look really sad.

I took a look at the plastic. I think you better come clean and ask them to put it back on as a favor to you. If not I'd just swallow the cost and chalk it up as experience and protection of your investment.

Speaking of protection, anyone consider the fenderwell flares like on the MDX? I have to check it out but I bet they'd look really good on this truck.

I agree ...

The fenderwall flares on the truck would look nice ... but it lloks like the only accessory that will be forthcoming are the flares for the LX only ...

Pilot Fender Flares
For LX models. Designed to match LX black bumpers and side moldings. Stick on installation.

Called the dealer

OK, so I called the dealer to fess up and say "I was an idiot". Well that strategy didn't work, they said it would be $25, but he would "work with me" since I "was an idiot" (he didn't actually say that, but I bet they are joking in the shop right now). He thinks it is made out of the same material as the clear bra's.

We declined the clear bra ($209 installed). Was this a mistake? Even though they are clear, I think you can still see the line going accross the hood. I would love to hear your thoughts on the bra too.

Thanks for the help!

You can buy clear paint protection film online at www.xpel.com. They sell it in a variety of widths for as little as $1.50 per foot for 2 inch wide film. It is really easy to apply small pieces such as the one you removed.

What a coincidence. Is this the 3" x 5" plastic thing right in front of the rear wheels on the passenger side door ?

If yes, I thought the same thing that the dealer had forgotten to remove some plastic wrappings (after 2 months of ownership) and I tried to remove them. But then I don't know what went throuhg my mind but thought it would be better to leave it on and stuck it back there.

So I am guessing that there is another one on the side as well ?

Does someone have a picture of this "plastic" stuff that I SHOULDN'T be removing when I do get my Pilot? I don't want to make the same mistake...

It is obvious

Once you look at it.
It is a clear film on the lower portion just in front of the wheel.
It tilts out a bit so it is likely to catch a few stones. That is why the protection is there.
