I made it home from my 3200-mile trip to Greer SC yesterday evening. Several people had asked that I track my mileage and report back here. I pulled a 4’ x 8’ single-axle trailer – empty going out and loaded with a 425# motorcycle coming back. Not much for wind going out and mostly downhill from our 5,200 elevation here in Colorado. Coming back was all up-hill and some wind. A couple times we were caught in 30 minute plus traffic delays (each time in St. Louis).

My overall mileage was 20.6 MPG, which broke down to 23.31 going and 18.47 coming back. AC was used on perhaps 400 miles of the return trip. I consider the mileage quite good with all things taken into consideration!! Very pleased!

I spotted a total of 18 Pilots on the trip (one Red Rock twice).

4 Red Rock, 3 Sandstone, 2 Black, 2 White and 7 Silver, as follows:
Red Rock near Limon CO
Sandstone near Russell KS
Red Rock near Junction City KS (same one as in Limon)
Black near Ft. Riley KS
Red Rock near McFarland KS
Red Rock near Topeka
White near Boonville MO
Black near Rend Lake IL
Silver near Marion IL
Sandstone near Paducah KY
White near Nashville TN
Silver near Lebanon TN
Red Rock near Greer
Silver near Cookeville TN
Silver near Cadiz KY
Silver near Paducah KY
Sandstone near Marion IL
Silver near Kansas City KS
Silver near Stratton CO

Love the Pilot!!!
:2:

So, did anyone here spot a Sandstone Pilot pulling a trailer?

I'm seeing More

You are right. With nearly 80,000 out there now, they are starting to show up more often. I stopped at Costco yesterday to buy my spring fertilizer. When I came out, another SS Pilot EX was parked right next to me.

In another year or two, Pilot's will be as common as Ody's, and people will no longer do a double take when they see the "huge CR-V".

I was driving near my home a couple of weeks ago and saw a silver Pilot (twin to mine) coming toward me. I said to my wife, "Hey look-another Pilot." No big deal, right? Behind him was a small nondescript sport coupe. But behind the coupe there were three more Pilots in a row! At first I thought it must've been the local dealer taking their salespeople out for a drive to familiarize them with the vehicle, but then I realized this was on a Sunday morning. Weird.

Welcome back colorider!!! Glad to have you back... your gas mileage data also factored in 3 (or was it 4) adult passengers/drivers and some luggage, right? Was the Beemer cycle what you expected from the E-Bay ad? Did all the Loveland snow melt (all 30+ inches of it) by the time you guys got back? Glad you made it back safely!! :4:

Thanks!!! Yes, good point. There were 2 adults and a "almost" 16YO in the Pilot - plus luggage.

The Beemer was just what I expected - no problems at all.

Most of our snow is now gone - predicting another "small" storm in sometime tomorrow again. :)

Saw another EX SS yesterday at Dairy Queen as I was coming back into town from Little Rock. It was brand new with the temporary tags. Once they went to their Pilot, they were really checking out the DVD system and the running boards on my Pilot...not to mention the XM antenna and bugflector.

That's quite a log of Pilot sightings!! Should we be thanking Mrs. Colorider for keeping that log or were you jotting & driving? :p

Hey - I resemble that remark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Actually, the Mrs did keep track of most of the sightings. Of the 3200 miles, I drove all but about 600 (which my stepson drove).

It really was not that bad of a trip, even with the long days (900+ the first day out). I'm fairly used to long distance stuff from some of my motorcycle trips (1200+ in under 19 hours).

Nice photos of the Beemer on the trailer, colorider!! Once again, colorider failed to mention how he got his new motorcycle home and once again, our hidden cameras catch him on the whole trip back to Loveland, CO.... ;) :)
