Sweeet!

I saw a guy with one today. What brand of snrf is that? Did the dlr do it? My wife is under the impression that they can't do a snrf with a RES. That true?

NICE!! I think you're the envy of at least half the owners on here right now, myself included :D

Does it have any kind of warranty with it? I'll have to transport my Pilot to Kansas City to have a sunroof put in it if I wanted one, and the dealer said it would cost between $1K-$2K.

I wish Honda wouldn't play these games, The first gen CRV did not have a sunroof option either. The current CRV does.

It's sad, but Honda-logic would mean that the Pilot won't get a sunroof until the redesign :(

No ... doesn't look photoshopped, there are plenty of folks out there getting sunroofs installed into their PILOTs. Search the forum for other pics. Average installation costs about $1K more or less depending on where your living. And, yes, a sunroof can be installed even if you have the RES.

Sunroof

My Honda Dealer is sending out Pilots for Sunroofs and they look great! (I'm going to have mine installed this spring)...I believe the MFG is ASC..? does that make sense?
The Dealer is Honda of Bloomfield: 248.333.3200 if you want to call to find out more info such as cost etc...

This is not my pilot (planning to get one soon). A sunroof installer in LA gave this to me. Sunroof costs 1300.00. The sunroof they install in pilots are the Stratos 700 series or the
Solaire 5000. This place installs sunroofs and RES and they said they can do both in a pilot.

The pic is not photoshopped

Even though this is an aftermkt mod, would I be better off (safer)getting the snrf fr. the dlr?

The dealers don't install them anyway - I'd bet 99.99% of them send it to someone else who specializes in such things. Especially since most dealers don't have a body shop (at least not around here). And you'll save money by cutting out the middleman and going to that specialist yourself.

In my opinion, I think Honda left out the sunroof so that it would not steal sales away from the MDX. Same reason why Hondas don't have memory seating, 17" tires, heated seats and a multidisc cd changer as standard.

I've also read that the steel protective cage around the car is slightly different than the MDX and cutting a hole in your roof may affect the overall safety of the car.

Something to think about.

As I reported in an earlier thread, I had a Webasto Stratos 744 installed by the sunroof dealer for $895 + tax. shop around. Get it from a sunroof dealer. they install for dealers and you cut out the middleman( dealer) profit.

Not Buying Until...

I have Pilot fever like you wouldn't believe, HOWEVER...
I am a first-generation CRV owner and although I love my CRV, I will never buy another first-generation Honda. I want a sunroof!! You see what happened with the CRV -- later came the passenger side armrest and clock, and much later came the sunroof. I'm holding out...

Hmmm... aftermarket, huh? I guess I'm just a little skittish when it comes to MAJOR aftermarket items like a sunroof. I think I'll still hold out and see what the next model year brings (especially since I've been reading the posts here about starter problems). In the meantime, I'll keep doing my research.

P.S. I wish Honda would offer some different colors! Toyota sure has some nice ones. :(

What version 700 is that?

jtbmorre:

Do you know exactly what model number your friends is? The dealer is having a 744 installed in my Pilot. The only other larger size is the 749, which is wider by 100mm. Just wondering what to expect.

Additionally, do you know where they mounted the controls? One website said that dashboard installs were out of the question! I wonder if this is only specific to THAT installer.

Has your friend had any problems with his sunroof?

Houton Pilot

I have a model 744 in my Pilot. It works and fits great! the controls are in the ceiling between the sunglass storage and the sun roof. this is very convienent in that you only have to touch the controls very breifly to open and close.
