Interesting story...

My family has an '03 Pilot EX-L RES and an '03 Accord EX-L. Unfortunately we got the keys mixed up (even though the Accord has the combined key/fob) and stuck the Pilot key into the Accord. Result? Dead Accord sitting in driveway. Talked to dealer and no solution other than towing it down to have the keys programmed!

Not a big deal but something to look out for. :)

Yeah, I'll say.

I can't believe that it fried it. How awful. That is a seriously BAD thing.

How did you mix-up the Pilot and Accord keys? Don't the Accord keys have the key-less entry controls built right into them?

I'm not sure if it would've fried anything in the ignition system. It's probably just disabled right now. Just like how if you enter incorrect PIN number several times, your cellphone refuses anymore attempts and turns itself off, or at least with some cellphones.

Isn't a key fob a variation of "watch fob" like from this definition?

fob n. 2.a. A short chain or ribbon attached to a pocket watch and worn hanging in front of the vest or waist. b. An ornament or seal attached to such a chain or ribbon.

Or FOB means Friends of Bill.
