I have a bad oil leak on my 2006 Honda Pilot LX 3.5L engine. Today, I had the valve cover gaskets replaced. The mechanic sprayed the bottom of the engine with brake cleaner so he could see where the leak was coming from. He said I needed to replace my oil housing gasket. I crawled under the Pilot and he showed me the leak and sure enough, that is where it looks like it is coming from. I am not sure I needed the valve cover gaskets replaced but that is another story.

When I look online, I cannot tell the difference between the VTEC gasket and an oil housing gasket. Also, some seem to call what I think I was looking at as an oil filter adapter. Are all of these the same thing?

What I saw has three just three bolts and seems simple to change (although I am getting older. I think I can get down under the Pilot but might need help getting back up!)

There are 2 gaskets to replace at the oil filter housing. One has a filter screen.
