I have a 2019 Pilot Touring with power tailgate.
Does it not have a sensor to stop it from opening if there is an obstacle? With my garage door closed, there is not enough space to open the tailgate. Today, my wife accidentally hit the tailgate button on the key instead of unlock button with garage door closed - The trunk continued to open and hit the garage door. Should is not detect this and stop from opening?

No, no sensor to reverse the opening of the tailgate until it hits something. It also is not adjustable to allow you to have it open to different heights.

I don't think I have had that on any vehicle with a power lift gate. They just use pressure sensitivity to know if they hit something and reverse direction. I just tested it on my 18 and it did not press on my hand very hard before it reversed direction and closed.
