I went to buy oil at a dealership in Southern New Hampshire and asked for 5W 20 for my 2010 Honda pilot touring. They didn’t have any in stock but told me it had been superseded by zero 20 synthetic. Does this sound right? I’m concerned because I put it in an shortly there after had camshaft failure

I think you should keep the weight the same. 0w20 is what newer hondas take. They should still have 5w20 for the older models in the shop at least. Maybe just buy it somewhere else.

There's really not that much different between the 2. I've got one more gallon of 5W20 and then I'll probably switch over to 0W20 for my 2010. My wife upgraded to a new MDX so it'll make it easier to only have to stock one kind.

My local dealer had multiple viscosities on the shelf when I was picking up some vtm fluid for my Pilot.
I get my oil elsewhere anyway.
