Has someone done this before and can help point me in the right direction? I need to connect a dual port 5v 2.1amp USB adapter to a source of constant power from the battery. Ideally somewhere near the head unit as I will be routing this power to my Nexus 7 that is going to be permanently mounted on the dash and serve as my carplay monitor.

Any help much appreciated.

I'd guess there has to be a constant 12v going to the top console screen behind the tablet in order to power the clock and theft deterrence system. I'm going to check that out later today.

Use a multimeter to confirm constant or switched 12V power from your selected source. I've used Bussmann ATM add-a-circuit fuse taps to get reliable fused 12V power.

Your main audio head unit connector should have:
GND (ground)
ACC(+12V when ignition is on)
+B (+12V permanentl hot from battery)
You just need to find out that connector pinout
Normally, GND and +B are the two much thicker black and white wires (positions 12 and 24)
ACC is a purple in position 14.
Be careful what you hook to a +B, as it might be a constant battery drain.

Does your project require constant 12V power?
This has come up before. At the time speculation was that he was a repo man or some other kind of agent on regular stakeouts. :p
