Need Help: Music Playing Options

Hello, I'm considering getting a 2019 Pilot (or Passport) and see that it does not have a CD player.

(LOL) As this will be the first vehicle I ever owned without a CD, I wanted to see what my options were.

Yes, I have an iPhone and know that I can link it up and play music off it, but it seems like a bit of a hassle.

I would prefer to get a small 1TB or 2TB hard drive or even a 256GB Thumb drive, record my music on it and leave it in the vehicle connected via USB?

Will this work? Has anyone tried it ? Or is presently doing it?

thanks..

Thumb drive should work. I know it works on the 2019 Pilot Touring. My Touring also has “My Honda Music.” It allows me to copy my music from the thumb drive to My Honda Music. It must be a small solid state drive (SSD), I think less than 7 GB, but I have copied over more than 800 songs. And it is blazingly fast. On my last 2013 Touring I had a 15 GB hard drive to store music. To do a search for an album, song or artist would take over 5 minutes. This SSD does it almost instantaneously. I have no idea if the SSD is in all trim levels. I can’t find any info on it, only know about it because the person showing me all the tech in the Pilot pointed it out to me.

True, but obviously if you don't have the Rear Entertainment, you don't have the CD/DVD player. However, there is a CD player available as a dealer installed option - Shopping Cart - College Hills Honda But, for $223 + installation, I would recommend the "my Honda music" storage, and/or a USB drive. I currently use both, and the largest USB drive that I have tried is 64GB. That's a lot of music since the system only recognizes MP3 files.
I was curious about your use of "My Honda Music." You state that you used a 64 GB USB drive. Was the USB drive filled with 64 GB of music? The reason I asked was I loaded my Honda music with about 6 GB of music from a thumb drive, and my honda music said it consumed about 90% of the space.

What I meant is that I have some music loaded into "My Honda Music", then I can also have a USB thumb drive connected. I can choose to play music from either one. The My Honda Music is limited to about 8 GB, from my understanding.

Ok, got you. It's too bad My Honda Music capacity is small. But I still have loaded over 800 songs on it. Can you do a search for album/song/artist/ genre on the USB drive and if so is it as fast as My Honda Music?
