Modern Steel Metallic?

2015 Views 20 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  marcuskirksr
Anybody have good pics of the Pilot in Modern Steel Metallic? I'm up in the air between it and the Crystal Black Pearl. I'm not a big fan of the Meteorite Gray Mettalic on the Accord after seeing it. Is the MSM similar or more silver/gun metalish? I'm thinking it will be easier to maintain here in FL over the CBP.

Thanks.

Just make sure you have the desire to keep it clean. I have a 22 PIlot in Modern Steel and it takes some extra dedication to keep it looking good. And if you want to go "Black", be prepared, you'll be spending a ton of time washing it and polishing out all the micro abrasions that come with "Black".

I am looking at Accords too. What didn't you like about the Meteorite Gray? Just curious. My wife would like something other than Black (the Pilot we are getting is Black, and our Accord V6 is also Black) so I was thinking Meteorite, or maybe the Canyon Blue. She wanted dark red but I think the red on the Accord is pretty light red
I guess I need to see it in person but from pics it looks like a dull gray....not sure. I'm leaning hard to getting the Pilot over the Accord now anyway so it will be black, MSM or maybe silver for me. I've had a few silver cars before and they are the easiest to maintain imo. My sense tells me silver, my heart likes the black so I was wondering if I split the difference with MSM? A black one is in route locally so that may impact my decision too. I need to get something in the next month.

As much as they are hard to keep clean (and I don't bother honestly) I have gotten a lot of black cars in my life. I've never liked white, and silver always seems to be a Grandpa car to me but obviously everyone has personal taste. Worst of all IMO were those "champagne" goldish silverish colors in terms of looking like you needed to be at least 90 yrs old to own one :)

This is a pretty good representation I found online. It is funny you should mention Meteorite Gray—If it was available on the Pilot, I would order it in a heartbea! :)

Looks like mine, so that is a good representation.
I was considering silver (don't care if it makes me look old). However, since I live where the roads are salted, I decided once the rust finally comes, it will not show as bad on the Modern Steel Metallic.

To me that looks like a totally different color than then the MSM color option on Honda’s site. I need to check these out in person.

Modern Steel is not a new Honda color. You should be able to see some live examples in a dealer's lot on other models.

I was considering Silver also, because I am old ;) I drove one yesterday, and it was unspoken for, so I could have purchased it--However, I was not crazy about the gray interior--It was a little too light and too much of a contrast with the rest of the interior for my liking.

This pic makes me think of the Sapphire Steel. It looks like it has a blueish tint which I guess could be reflecting blue in the sky.

We got the modern steel metallic with the brown interior. It kind of has a purplish hue to it in the sunlight, in a good way, and dark grey in the shade/garage indoors. We love it! For reference, this is the bright lighting at the dealership when we bought it.

Hi, new to the forum! Thought I'd comment as well since my wife and I were also between the CBP and MSM. Based on what would be available soon in our area, we have reserved a MSM 2023 EX-L 7 passenger that should be built today. I'll be sure to post some photos in here once we get ours (should be by the end of the month) in case you are still searching!

Interior pics please!
Interior pics please!
Unfortunately, I park in an indoor garage and the back already has 2 car seats loaded in! I used this post for reference before seeing it in person and it's pretty spot on. The interior really elevates the look. I love the brown!

No idea how I missed that post!
Thank you.

But consider sharing your own as probably 50%+ folks here have 2 car seats in their pilot just like myself. Might be a nice spin on what other people have already posted and how much room is in the middle row.

You're right about that, as I wish it's something I would've liked to see. I'll try and get a picture one of these days and post here when I park in daylight.

I took out the middle seat so I can get to the third row, like yourself I have two children's car seats in the two outer seats.
My 2 cents on MSM. I just got a pilot elite in MSM with Black Interior. I wanted Lunar Silver because it's the easiest color to keep clean and to me looks the best with the default chrome accents Honda continues to insist on, but alas had to go MSM to get the black interior. IMO, MSM is the most bland and tired color in Honda's lineup. It needs to be retired. It might be one of the most popular colors on the road now a days. Look around and you will see a lot of different brands and cars with a similar color. I do not like the blueish undertones. I would much prefer a dark silver similar to Acura liquid carbon metallic color. Also, as others have pointed out it's not easy to keep clean.....
