I ordered the Cross Terrains yesterday from Tire Rack. These tires come with the Outlined white lettering (OWL)on one side and black on the other.

I'm undecided on whether to mount them with the OWL showing or not.

All opinions are welcomed.

Based on all the tire posts I've read since June, my prediction is that more folks on this forum like em with OWL facing in. Me - I like like the OWL facing out - a bit more sporty and bold look for the Pilot IMHO.

I think it depends on the color of the Pilot and the accessories (chrome?) installed. Looks GREAT on Len's white. (Can't open Hoppy's thead).
Not so sure how they'd look on the sagebrush. Maybe with the chrome they'd look good?
I'd have to see them both ways on mine to decide. What a pain in the arse I am... :D

My thought is that if the tires are made with ROL, they need to show. To me it looks cheap to see a vehicle with either the white side walls(I'm dating myself here) or the white letters on the inside. they do show.

That's a good point! Personally I like the white lettering... also from the When White Side Wall Tires were THE thing to have.

I personnally like the white letters but... Then I thought, hey... I'll have to clean these letters for the next 3 or 4 years.

I put them facing in. :)

I'm paying $31 for shipping. I cut a deal with a local tire guy to install and balance the tires in exchange for the Goodyears. I have over 5k on them, so its worth it. Otherwise I was getting quotes of $18-25 a piece to mount. So out of pocket, I'm paying $318.

They do look good with the OWL showing, but I'm kind of leaning towards installing them with the blackwall showing.

Anybody have a dark color Pilot with the OWls showing? Specifically sagebrush?

Pilotless,

I think the letters on the outside look best no matter what color your Pilot is. BTW, where did you say you ordered your Michelins? That $318 is an excellent price. Those Michelins are far superior to the Goodyears that come stock. I test drove an Explorer with those Michelins and it was a very smooth and quiet ride.

I purchased the Michelins from TireRack.com $72 per tire plus shipping.

Michelin Cross Terrains

I think on a white Pilot the letter would look great

As to the $72 cost at TireRack when I was on that site a few days ago I thought the price was $88

Wonder what I can get for a set of Bridgestones with 1,200 miles on them?

OWL look really nice on a Silver pilot. Then again -- you have to keep
them white...
I don't have Cross Terrains and I don't have a Pilot, but I did add some Michelin LTX M/S tires to my silver CR-V and like you guys I debated for a while whether to put them in or out. I went with the out but I agree wth kruzo that it does take some extra work to keep them looking nice. The second pic below was taken after they hadn't been scrubbed in awhile :p

Looks good Hoppy / GatorGreg! Maybe it's in the name... If they say MICHELIN the OWL goes out... if they say Goodyear, Firestone, etc... the OWL go in! Kidding...kinda. :31:

Here the Michelin CT with raised letters on my Silver Pilot
Hoppy, what's up with the red calipers? Did you
paint them (with what?) or did you have them
upgraded? Curious,
K
