Longer rear hatch struts

No Kidding! Tall folks like me have a real head banger with the Pilot. I put new gas struts on my Yukon and solved the problem for THAT vehicle, because it was designed to have a higher opening. The Pilot of that generation (like my 07) will not go higher with just new struts. I've looked at it a bit and can't see how a longer gas strut would work. Others may have a solution or suggestions. I'm tired of banging my head!

I think the problem you might have with trying to install a lift support with a greater extended length is the compressed length will also increase. This may not allow the gate to close.

I’ve replaced old rear springs with new ones to lift rear end of car by about 1-2 inch. Old hatch struts do not extend themselves any more, have to push up the hatch door to make it go and stay up, gonna replace those with new OEM ones too. Could not find longer ones.

I'm 6' 3" & have bonked my head innumerable times on the open rear hatch - I don't think you can do longer struts because the "spoiler" on the top of the hatch lid will run into the "jam" (where the hinges are mounted in the top of the opening) - you could test this by detaching the struts & opening the hatch further (carefully) but it looks to me like it would hit.

You would also have to move the lower mount. A longer opening length means a longer closed length.
I was able to put longer struts on my campers rear hatch, but I had to move the lower mount to accommodate the new "closed length".
