I put a deposit down with a sales rep named Deon about 2 months ago. He had said that they would be pricing the Pilot for $1,000 over msrp. I thought that was reasonable considering the market. He has emailed back recently that the mark up for the dealership is charging is $4,500 over msrp, but since I put a deposit down, it will only be $2,500 over msrp. What a swell guy! I've decided not to do business with Hopkins. I will take my money to another dealership instead.

Picked up our black EXLRES on Saturday from El Cerrito Honda. They also had a silver EXLRES and five others. Spoke with the sales rep (Conley) and he says they still have 3 unsold. Paid $1995 over MSRP. Lucky for me, I was able to persuade them not to add the "adventure package" to the mix (although I think most of the accessories are what most people will want to add, i.e. cross bars, cargo cover, mud guards, etc.) Figuring that they made enough $$ off my sale, they have told me that I can buy the accessories at dealers cost. Got the "dealer's price" for some of the items today and visited www.collegehillshonda.com for comparison. Turns out the "dealer's price" is slightly higher. I wonder if there is a regional difference in the price of parts.

There is no difference in price between dealers. They just plain lied to you thinking you wouldn't check up on them.

Try other online stores

HandA.com
Hondacuraword.com
4hondaparts.com
etc.
College Hills does not have the best prices (or terms, check shipping charges)

I'll throw in a super duper excellent rating for Tim at Hondacuraworld.com . He is one of the best and will treat you right.

I 2nd Tim at Hondacuraworld [www.hondacuraworld.com]. If you want proof, visit the MDX web site. I think that the worst that I have heard about Tim might be that he was only great [most find him somewhere between fantastic and awesome]. He provides everything:

Great service.
Great prices.
Periodic "specials".
Prompt shipping.
He cares.

When it was discovered that an aftermaket mfg made a better bug shield, he started selling it. I suspect that he would urge a buyer not to buy the Acura-made part.

Hey Tim, ever thought about running for public office [like maybe President]. That would really shake up the country!!

Another good one

I don't see them list so I'd like to throw in www.hparts.com. I've ordered the rear sun shade, foglights, sunroof deflector, and touch-up paint from them for our 99 Accord. Their prices are very reasonable. They seem to go back and forth with H and A for the best prices I could find.

I had a screw break when I was putting in my sun shade (my fault, I over torqued it!) and they sent me a new set. They also answered a number of questions for me when I put the fog lights on my Accord. (I hated cutting my bumper soooo bad. I was afraid to cut too far and not be able to cover that one up.)

banningjr,

In regards to the fog lights on your Accord:

(1) How long did it take you to do the install?

(2) Was it a pain or relatively straight forward?

(3) We have a 2001 Accord and I have been contemplating adding the Honda fogs -- have you found it worth the cost and the effort?

Thanks in advance

I think they are excellent on the Accord and make it look so much better. They really light up the road too.

The big difference here is your 2001 is painted where mine was just the black plastic. I would research the instructions before I try it to be sure of what they want you to cut.

It probably took me longer that it should have, 4-5 hours over two days but I have two kids that get my time as well. Other than the cut just about everything else is either prewired or falls in place exactly where Honda says it will be. If you have the guts to cut on the outside you'll have no problems. All the interior work was just undoing clips and snapping everything into place, again per the instructions.

I would second Leo's vote for www.hparts.com. I've been buying accessories from them for years - for both my '94 Civic EX and my '98 Accord EX-V6. I've always been very pleased.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're showing all of the accessories for the Pilot (eg. wood trim).

Maybe I'll give Tim a shot, since everyone speaks so highly of him!

Hmmm, I have no complaints with Larry Hopkins Honda

I think you just got a rotten apple of salesperson from Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale, CA. I just picked up Midnight Blue EXL with Navi from Thomas Ho, Fleet Manager, from Larry Hopkins Honda on 3/12/04. Matter of fact, this is my second Honda in less than two years from him.

We negotiated on the price over the phone, confirmed via email. Faxed my driver license, insurance, my loan pre-approval letter before heading in. I was in and out of dealer in 30 minutes.

Tell him that sungchang sent you :)

As for pricing, it was the best in the Bay area. Les from Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, and forgot the name of sales person from Capitol Honda could not compete. Told me to buy from Larry Hopkins Honda and I did :p

Agreed, and we need to start up this portion of forum again :D

Now that I have the Pilot, a get together would be nice.

Hi sungchang,

I am also shopping for a 2004 Pilot. Would you mind disclosing how much you paid at Larry Hopkins for your EX-L w/ Navi ?
For the EX-L Navi, Les from Anderson quoted $32860 and CarsDirect quoted $32458. For the EX-L, Les from Anderson quoted $30860 and CarsDirect quoted $30660.
I am leaning toward the EX-L but the Navi seems tempting.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

First, I would highly recommend the Navi. Although an expensive option at $2000, I think it's well worth it. As for pricing, I promised Thomas that I would not divulge the final pricing that I paid as they had made a mistake on it; however, call him on his cell, 415-519-0638, and tell him that I referred you. His pricing should be below $32k.

Once you get a quote, email me at [email protected] and I will let you know how it compares.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but a promise is a promise and I intend to keep it :)
