I need help with "what to do next?"

Arming and disarming the factory alarm system with the key fob stopped working.

A week ago I noticed I had to press the buttons several times to arm or disarm the alarm and then it stopped working all together. No problem I thought; replace the battery and function restored. Well that didn't work. So I spent some time reviewing all the threads re: alarm/fob not working. Nothing seemed to fit my situation.

The facts:
2007 with 180,000 miles
New CR1616 battery @ 3.17 volts
The lock system works fine with the key in the driver's door: all doors lock and unlock as expected, alarm sets and disarms.
Each individual door lock works (tested lock plunger at each door)
No "open door graphic" on the dashboard.
The other 2 factory key fobs don't work either.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you're sure all your fob CD1616 batteries are fresh (even the new one; sometimes sellers give you old stock)...

You might try something that doesn't cost a cent: reprogramming your key fobs. You need to do all of them together.

Here's how:

Have all remotes for the vehicle on hand. Make sure all the doors and rear hatch/trunk are closed during programming. Only need to use 1remote to get into program mode but all remotes must be programmed during the same session. Each step must be completed within 5 seconds.

1. Sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed

2. Turn the key to the ON position, marked by "II" on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on, then within 5 seconds press the "Lock" button on the remote for 1 second or so and release the button.

3. Turn the key to the OFF position, marked by "I" on the ignition bezel - dash lights go off.

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times (A total of 4 times) -- each step must be done within 5 seconds of the previous step.

5. Upon the 4th turning of the key to "ON", press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off.

6. Within 5 seconds of entering programming mode and within 5 seconds of each other, press the lock button ON EACH remote you are programming, for a second or so and release. This step needs to be completed within 10 seconds. Each time a remote button is pushed, the locks should cycle. Up to 3 remotes can be programmed.

7. Turn ignition completely off and remove the key. Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and should work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will "pop".

Here's a video that might also help.

Keep trying, it eventually does work, if your fobs are good. In the end, what finally worked for me when using the method that goes from II to 0 didn't work: Going from II to I is what did it for me.

I trust only Energizer Lithium from a major retailer. There is a lot of poor quality imports out there.

Thanks for the notes and suggestions....

The battery is a brand new Energizer that I measured at 3.17 volts so I am starting at a good, known base condition.
I tried and failed at the programming process - with 2 different factory keys.

It appears that the vehicle receiver has failed.
Does anyone have experience with the vehicle receiver?

Edit: of course as soon as I asked the question, I dove into the forum and found a good answer here...

Before digging out the receiver, take a moment to check your fuses with a multimeter.

Well, looks like I have the same problem as the OP. Key fob stopped working, switched the battery. No luck. Checked voltage, right at 3.1. Got scheduled for a locksmith to get two keys cut and programmed for $200. Not a bad deal, and now I’ll finally have a spare key! Good thread, good info!

Honestly I don’t mind the stationary key. Doesn’t bother me at all! Got two new keys programmed and laser cut for just over $200. Now I’ve got three keys total! One just doesn’t unlock/lock but it still drives!

After I finally got the 2 new cut keys chip programmed to work, I tried the fob.
No go. ON the 2 new keys, only one of them has the little red light go on when the buttons are pushed. I tried to program that fob, no luck.
Wow this is getting frustrating.

2 new keys, will start and run the Pilot, STILL have to use the key to lock/unlock the door! SMH

So what am I wrong? I've tried.
The last time I made a key, I remember getting the fob to program for the door locks too. Not this time.
I'm holding my tongue right too! LOL
What?

Do you have any of your fobs still lying around? Can those be programmed?
