Since they took all of the seats out - did they close the doors and try to start the car? Where do you "normally" keep the key when driving the car?

Mine fell out of my pocket of my jacket and slipped into the crack of bottom cushion and back of seat. When I went to get it, it fell down into bottom of the seat cushion. I had to unclip the leather from the back of bottom of the seat cushion. I could NOT reach it from between the cushions. Maybe if it was reclined all the way but I think I tried that.

The RF detector linked or maybe a fiber optic USB camera type thing.

I would have started with driver seat and take it out then try to start the car, then passenger seat etc.

The headliner would be a long shot UNLESS you have a habit of putting the remote in the eyeglass holder possibly.

I thought Honda had a service note for techs which talks about locating the missing fobs. It uses HDS to determine which receivers in the car are hearing the key fob. Which might help general locate what portion of the vehicle to look in. Wonder if that was done rather than tearing it down to almost sheet metal!
Did they scope all the vents on the dash like defogger ducts, etc?

ok, it's actually a Tech2Tech video which talks about keyless access remote programming interference. It talks about using the HDS (ONE-PUSH START, KEYLESS ACCESS Remote position) to determine which of the several antenna locations throughout the vehicle detects a remote present. This might help narrow down the search for what part of the vehicle the remote is at. Hopefully one of the dealers should have done this and could share that with you?

LF (Low Frequency) Antennas
The front interior, rear interior, left/right-front, and left/right-rear LF antennas send the signals to the remote inside and outside of the vehicle.

Wow, this story is crazy! Just one more reason I keep a Tile (App) and an Apple Air Tag on the same ring as my key fobs

Tile Tracker is very cheap!!!! https://amzn.to/3HAF0w4

And just anyone is wondering.... wrapping a key fob in foil will block the signal. My wife and I were traveling over the summer, she had her key fob for my pilot in her purse. The battery was low and it kept on giving me a warning on the center screen. It became really annoying and we were not around anyplace to stop for a battery. Luckily I had some foil from a sandwich, wrapped up the fob and that worked

I also lost my spare key in my 2019 Honda Pilot about a year ago. After looking many times, I happened on this thread, I decided to take one more look, and voila! I found it hidden in a pocket under the driver's seat. The support under the right side of the driver's seat looks solid when looking from the rear, but it has a recess just large enough to hide a key. I reached in, curled my fingers around, and felt under the support. I don't suppose this would help the O.P. since it looks like he had his car disassembled enough that he would have found it. But this would probably make a good hiding place to stash a spare key. BTW: We had locked and unlocked the car many times with the main key fob.

Actually, it's an M&M Peanut, and it looks a little worse for wear.

It's my wife's car, and the M&M was just one of many tempting items I found while looking for the key. I did retrieve it but have resisted the temptation so far. I figure I could buy lots of brand new M&Ms for the money I saved by not having to pay for a duplicate key/fob: )
