Would someone with a Honda hitch and a ruler please help me out? There was discussion on the Acura MDX forum about the hitch pin hole being too close to the reinforcing band (eg 1/8 to ¼ of an inch). People who wanted to use bike racks with anti-sway locking pins were finding that the pin was striking the reinforcing band, preventing them from properly tightening the bolt. One hitch owner had to grind down the reinforcing band to accommodate the anti-sway locking pin.

I am considering this hitch but want to make sure I will not have this problem with my Thule Expressway bike rack. Hopefully Honda got the message and moved the hole back a little bit. I called American Honda Customer Service to see if they could provide this measurement, and they were unable. Would one of you kind hitch owners please measure the distance from the edge of the reinforcing band to the edge of the hitch pin hole? Thank you very much for your assistance.

3/16" on mine
Wow that is close! The washer on my Thule locking pin is also 3/16". Not much room for error. Also, the key lock unit only sits less than a 1/4" over the washers, so that will be a tight fit too.

Thank you davemac. I really appreciate your help.
