Read the past threads here but still need some wise council! On my 2006 (270K mile) Pilot I cross threaded and then broke off the alternator bracket bolt in the block - with none of the bolt above the boss. And I believe I had used the long bolt for the alternator instead of the shorter one, compounding the problem!
Had it towed to my trusted shop who tried to remove it with a screw extractor which broke.
They are afraid of hitting the water jacket or an oil passage and do not want to drill out the bolt - especially because of its location. They feel that they must take the head out to get a straight shot at drilling it. ($$$)
I have seen others here have drilled it out - anyone know about the head passageways and if they have a valid concern?
Would greatly appreciate your advice!
