Noticed that the headliner right above the driver's sun visor is coming off. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, radio reception is not great.
And, there is a clunking noise from the rear when going over bumps/dips. Anyone else have this problem??

Radio reception

My headliner is fine.

I was actually impressed with the reception. I can pick up stations 70 miles away (FM) better with my Pilot than I could with my Integra.

The only beef I have is when you go under power lines the AM station buzzes at you.

As for the headliner, the one on my first Pilot did the same thing. I thought at first it was from the hail damage, but there weren't any dents right where it came loose.
Could be a headliner problem for Honda.

this was an initial problem I found also. I have not taken it in for correction yet. Radio reception on the other hand is pretty good (better than my explorer which has a mast antenna.)

Is it underneath the visor that you are seeing this, or right around the visor???

I'm noticing more static on my radio stations as well.

My radio stations are fine. I live 100+ miles from Philly, PA and can get AM stations from there. (610 WIP for you Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers fans....I'm all about Cowboys so boo Eagles.)

The headliner however is a problem. It is sagging by at least 1/2" on both the driver and passenger sides. I got the Auto Mirror but it hasn't even been installed yet. I checked my Accord to see if it was just a Honda thing but low and behold it is finished and tucked back under. Along with the seatbelt loop I think this needs to be addressed by Honda with either a finishing strip or replace with a headliner that is tucked completely. It is a new model so I am not totally bent....yet.

Does anyone have access to an MDX to see how their roofline is finished?

I found the same thing with my headliner on the drivers side. I showed it to the dealer when I went in to pick up my plates. He set up an appointment latter in the week to fix it. I thought they would just glue it back down, but the dealer called me back and said the part was on back order, the whole headliner. Now I'm not sure I want them to take my new car apart, with the DVD, for something that a few drops of glue could take care of.

On our Pilot the exhaust was banging against the heat shield on a bumpy road, this was a very quick fix at the Honda dealership.

I know the headliner is not finished/tucked, but I don't think that mine is coming off. It seems to be pretty secure. It not sagging anyway like some are describing. Granted, it is a not exactly attached to the windshield, but I think they have allowed some room for expansion/contraction.

If you reach up and compare what is there with the rear of the vehicle it still seems like some sort of finishing strip is needed. It could even be black just so it holds the headliner. It should run from window post to window post. Cutting corners to save $ is one thing, this just seems like they forgot to finish the truck.

The sag is only slight but for $30K is should be solid.

What are you planning to do??? I think I'll wait till Honda addresses this issue, if at all.

Is your liner visibly sagging, in other words loose, or is there simply a gap between the liner and the windshield???

It is visible when you are looking for it. Otherwise I may not have even noticed it. When you reach up and check it out the headliner and padding are already fanning. I'm glad I checked it prior to the Auto mirror installation today so I know that did not cause it.

I guess I'll see what the dealership says about it. I did mention it to Honda on the 800 line and they said let the dealer look at it. As with many of these issues, if one person calls it my problem, if a number of people call it is a Honda problem. When I called yesterday they mentioned they forward these complaints to their engineers to see if a solution needs to be found. So even if someone else has called it helps to get the numbers in there.

I agree with banningjr in that we should call the 800 line if anyone is experiencing the same problem/issue. I am going to check mine when I get home this evening and post update.

I also updated American Honda (when they called for the 3 min survey) about my clicking noise problem, which is not consistent and so I haven't taken it into the dealer yet.

I'd never heard the term headliner before (I'm learning so much about cars on this forum:) -- but I checked where my "ceiling" meets my windshield along the front window (especially behind the visors) and altho it is not tucked under or trimmed in any way, it doesn't sag or bag or look at all bad.

Looks perfectly fine to me, even now that I'm looking at it critically. I'd never noticed that area in any previous cars, so I really have nothing to compare it to. But I certainly think mine looks absolutely fine as it stands.

Checked out the headliner/windshield interface and, yes, there is a gap but I would only know that by feel. It is hard to see anything that looks like a problem. I even tried to gently pull the headliner down at that edge but it felt very solid. i am deciding not to worry about this one.
