Hey there friends -

On a couple of longer nighttime highway drives recently I've noticed the headlights dimming rapidly in conjunction with just a couple of the dash lights - oddly the MODE button for the stereo but not the buttons surrounding it. It also doesn't do it constantly, but will flicker for a few minutes and then go back to normal. I've been able to start it with different combinations of turning on and off the AC or cabin air circulator and some other things but there's no set pattern that can cause the issue as far as I can tell.

Additionally, I know the single headlight dim of the charging system kicking on/off and it's not that. It's a steady quick flicker more similar to a strobe but without completely going on and off, just dimming.

I'm thinking alternator? Battery connections? Any suggestions are great. Thanks!

Also look for corrosion on the cables, especially the thick cable on the lower engine block.

If you have a bolt meter you can test the alternator output under light and heavy load conditions.
