So did anyone figure out why a spark plug gets a rusty stain around the porcelain?

Huh. Ok. That I guess explains that.
If you're seeing that "rusty stain" on the ceramic insulator portion of your spark plugs, are you applying any dielectric grease to the contacts in the plug wires/coils before connecting them to the plugs?

One way to find out.
I'll live with the stains.
I don't recall seeing dielectric grease on the spark plugs from the factory. Not sure why that's a AHA MOMENT.
