What octane gas is everyone running? Understand the book says 87 is fine unless you are towing a large load and then use 91. Does that mean if the vehicle is full of bodies and luggage that it could run better at a higher octane? Does it make a difference? I thought I had heard in the past that anything over what the engine was built for was useless. In our Cherokee that we are trading in, we always had to run 89 since it would ping at the recommended 87. Thoughts?

the normal grade (87, I think) has yielded adequate performance thus far. Haven't seen a need to increase octane. I enjoy this feature- since other car (4 cyl turbo) is noticeably weak without 91 octane.

Actually the owners manual recommends 86 octane or higher (pg. 216). No problems thus far using the "lower" grades and won't go to premiums unless towing. :20: :20:
