How is the adaptive cruise at being smart and not slamming on the brakes? I have 2016 Elite and if someone pulls in front of me (far away), it slams on the brakes when it doesn't have to unless they are really close. I hope they improved the adaptive cruise to be smoother. I have a 2012 Audi A6 with adaptive cruise that never slams brakes like the Pilot does and it's 4 years older.
This one is really annoying and annoys the mess out of my wife. She's not a fan of driving the Pilot. I hate Honda hasn't had any software updates to improve this over the years.

How is the backseat ride? It's been a recent discovery that my kids get car sick in my 2016 Elite, so bad that I'm considering getting a different vehicle. My kids don't get sick in my wife's 2014 Outback. We usually take the Pilot on road trips and they would constantly complain of tummy aches, and my daughter has thrown up a decent amount over the years. My son says it feels like he's riding a rollercoaster. When we've taken the Outback, they have no complaints. We've had friends ride in the back seat that have also said the ride is 'floaty' or something as well. My wife and I both rode in the backseat during the test drive, but neither of us get car sick so we weren't phased. I was curious how it is in the new Pilot.
My Traverse has been superior to the Pilot in this regard. While we could debate suspension tuning and oscillations experienced, I think it mostly has to do with the availability of rear ceiling vents on the Pilot vs. console and pillar vents in the Pilot. The second one of them claims they feel sick in the Traverse I hit the rear button, turn the temperature knob down and the fan knob up and everyone is feeling good. The Pilot doesn't have the level of fidelity in the controls and just doesn't seem to cool those seats as effectively as ceiling vents.

It seems pretty smooth actually but I don't have the older version to compare to. Even freakier is the low speed where it comes to a full stop when the car ahead does at a stoplight. That said, there was one time when I was playing with it where the car ahead turned right and then I switched to the left lane and it was being slow in getting "missile lock" on the next car ahead that was stopped at the next light. I'm sure at some point it would but I felt uneasy like it was going to plow into that car so I took over.

Basically I can see a lot of utility on highway cruising, and I can also see it for REAL stop and go traffic on a highway where the car in front of you is gonna be there for a while. Driving around town at 40 mph technically you can do it but it is way more stressful than just doing the driving myself (and I ENJOY DRIVING TOO) so I am guessing these functions are more of a toy for me

Looks amazing! Congratulations! Funny, just last night my wife and I were talking about our dream cars, and while she talked about her Range Rover, I was talking about my MDX. Then I said, “if not the MDX, I will go for a black Pilot Elite”.

I don’t think anyone can answer that—it is subjective. The only way to know for sure is to take one for a test drive with your kids in the back. If they get 🤢 or 🤮, it’s a fail.

I rode in the back of my Pilot over the weekend and I had no issues. I really like the size and shape of the rear 3rd row windows. Plus maybe the panoramic roof helps. Even though the glass isn't above the 3rd row it still leads to a more open and airy sense in the cabin. I didn't feel like the rear seat was bumpy or floaty or anything

After almost 2 months since I agreed the price, finally picked up my Elite Blk/Blk today.

Really enjoying it thus far. Still need to spend some time in the menus and settings but I was able to easily link the phone while sitting outside the dealer and use Android Auto for the way home. Sound system sounds great. Drives and shifts smoothly. Very quiet vs our older Odyssey!

FAVORITE part? all the radar cruise/LKAS etc. I turned it all on for the highway ride home and was amazed at how you have all these little car icons alongside your Pilot icon on the dash, and the cars are the real actual vehicles being spotted by the system so you see what is in the lanes beside you as well as ahead of you, and the one you are tracking speed on is highlighted in green. It's like a fighter jet!

As earlier predicted, I don't like the HUD so just turned it off. Just too distracting and unnecessary for my taste.

Look at that engine bay! Lots of room to work in there for DIYers. A little hard to see in the picture, but on the left side you are looking down at the wheel well so lots of open space around the timing belt covers etc.

Unfortunately we just had snow here last night so I'm sure the new Pilot just got a nice road chemicals bath....oh well.....

Looking forward to driving it more!
YES! Apparently you can.....

Congrats on ending your wait and enjoying your new Pilot! The black looks sharp.

I had been wondering what those vertical slots were for! I must be blind, but where are the dividers stored (didn't realize we had these)? Or are these add-on equipment?

I am not sure? Mine were just there. Maybe other Pilot owners can confirm if they had them in there. Reason why I am curious is because my dealer threw in all weather mats and the "cargo tray" as part of the deal, so while I think it unlikely, some possibility that the cargo tray came with those 2 dividers. Or otherwise maybe the factory just forgot to put yours in.

I admit not reading all 68 replies above this, so I apologize if I'm repeating someone else's comment. As a motorcyclist I have some concerns regarding some of the "auto-pilot" features currently available on automobiles. I think adaptive cruise control is a nice feature, and there even some premium brand motorcycles that have it. The biggest concern is the vehicle sensor's ability to detect motorcycles. FWIW, Tesla does a poor job of it. Once the weather gets nice enough for motorcycles to be on the road, it would be nice to hear from Pilot owners as to how well the traffic detection system recognizes their presence. Also, can the system recognize emergency response vehicles? Will it warn to make a lane change - per Scott's Law - if an emergency vehicle is stopped with its flashing lights activated?

I do believe the system picks up motorcycles in the adaptive cruise system.

I was driving home on Monday and we had a pretty heavy, but small, squall of snow on the highway. My front radar sensor started getting covered and it picked up the car I was following as being smaller and displayed it as a motorcycle. It only did this for about 10-15 seconds or so before I had to get off the highway and then got the alert that the systems radar needed cleaned off.

I know, bad example about how well it works but that really isn’t the vehicles fault as that happens to a bunch of cars with a radar front emblem. I was more excited to see it display a motorcycle in the display. I always saw the car and the semi trucks, but I didn’t know it picked up the bikes as well.

I’ll have to wait until we get warmer weather and there are more bikes out to truly see how it differentiates between the three but if how smooth it’s worked thus far, I would anticipate it working pretty well.

I thought it was so cool how it knew there was an 18 wheeler in the lane beside me and it showed the picture of an 18 wheeler rather than a "car" or rather than some dot or arrow or icon of a "vehicle"

Also I want to pick up some simple clean black license plate frames. The ones I have on our Accord were metal and they chip over time. But people say the silicone ones pick up dirt? Anyone have luck with anything specific?
I got this plate frame a a local store. I don't recall it it was Walmart or an auto store. It is plastic and I like it a lot, especially the little caps that go over the bolts.

Thanks. I ended up going with these Silicone ones (two pack) and just installed them tonight. I like the simple look around the edge.

By the way I also picked up some #12 x 3/4in stainless pan head screws at the store to replace the yellowish zincish hex head screws #14 that the dealer had used. The hex heads were large and a bit ugly and I found with my plastic mounting holes that #12 works just as well, and I like the clean look of the pan heads and stainless.

Rusty license plate screws are a PEEVE of mine! I’ve been doing similar.

I got carbon fiber plate frames off of Amazon I believe from a guy who lives locally in Hagerstown MD. They are maybe 3/8" thick the whole border and have the stainless hardware with caps to clean the look up. Unless you get right up on the vehicle you'd just think they are glossy black, I like the look better than plastic or a matte finish frame.
