The green bar indicates the cruise set speed VS the adaptive radars actual speed. In this pic, the cruise is set to 70 but the adaptive is picking up the car doing 55 and following that.
Yes, the question is does the green show up before the Pilot starts to slow, thus giving you an indication indication of your closing speed and how much you’re going to slow if you stay in the lane? On the interstate, you can use that info to gauge how quick you need to get in the left lane to pass…assuming that is how it works.

Haha yeah dudes are already spending thousands to mod their cars and I am looking for a plastic license plate frame haha, and I am gonna get myself some kind of ceramic spray too and start this car out right.

I hear you on the plate covers. Do you know the screw size? The ones that came from my dealer are yellowish silver which I assume isn't gonna be a true stainless but probably a zinc. I agree it would be nice look to get true stainless that won't rust up over time
I couldn’t find any specific info on this and I think that is by design. These new Hondas use the plastic screw holes to minimize the corrosion VS the threaded holes in the hatch of older SUV’s. Because of this, I think anything close would fit as it will just self tap into the plastic mounting points. The dealer just used some crappy galvanized self tapping screws. My TL used M6 x 16mm bolts so I just picked up a fresh set of those and they threaded in without issue.

I can’t remember for sure but I’m fairly certain that the green line only appears as the speedo needle falls off from the desired set speed and not before.

This FRICTION with the MDX folk. Is this real? If you read one of my early posts, I explain that I was trying to brand stack and I thought the MDX was similar in platform to a Pilot, like American cars once were. Well, the folks at the Acura dealer weren’t thrilled when they learned the reason for my visit there- to learn about a more premium Pilot.
It's sort of become a personal joke to me and maybe some others who have been on both sites. When I was cross shopping the MDX and Pilot and posting over on MDXers, there were a number of guys over there who are in apparent denial about the family lineage and similarity in platforms and performance between the Acura and the Honda. It was interesting to me to watch their reasoning for how the Acura is so much more different and "premium." I never claimed they were the same cars at all, or that the Pilot is better, but facts are facts and while I like the MDX a lot too, the 2023 Pilot, especially in the upper trims, gets to a very similar offering (all the features) plus it offers a more useable 3rd row, a less cluttered dash and console because it drops the "trackpad" thingy for a normal touchscreen, etc. Setting aside the Type S, the normal MDX has the same engine as Pilot and so is going to have basically same performance. So it was just interesting to hear the reasoning on why the regular MDX is such an undisputably "better" choice, and a lot of it resides in peoples' view of Acura as a brand, and maybe a little more upscale interior etc.

Well, you are on an Acura enthusiast site…do you really expect them to agree the Pilot is the better choice…after they made their decision to buy the MDX?

I don’t think anyone wanted someone to say ”oh crap, I bought the wrong vehicle

Originally, there were some very constructive threads started to just talk about straight comparisons of both. I know Hogan, like myself, was considering both the MDX and the Pilot. So it’s pretty natural to try and research both on each board. I think it morphed into more then it should have been from the extreme overreaction from a lot of them.

The conversation quickly turned into “why would you ask Pilot VS MDX questions on this board“ all the way to “you’re just mad because you can’t afford an Acura”.

This was all in legitment threads to discuss which car might work better for someone. There was no open adult dialogue, just a bunch of entitled people telling you how poor you are. It was pretty comical actually.

Yeah— some people buy a car just to impress people versus versus does it actually represent the best value for my needs. No point arguing with those folks.

yes, I think that was the most disappointing (and triggering) thing for me....a few guys going from being super defensive of their "brand" to then outright dissing like because I was considering a Honda and especially because at one point I was considering the mid-trim rather than the top-trim, then I am just some poor sap who can't afford to even feed my family let alone buy a new car, and certainly I wasn't welcome at the "country club" where these MDXers were gathering. Not only was it insulting but it is a bit of an eye-roller that some of these guys wanna act like Acura carries some prestige like a Bentley or even BMW. I like Acura for what it is and I would be very proud to own one, but to me it would be because I am getting a very nice vehicle that also comes with the Honda build quality and expected reliability, not because I think that people are gonna assume I am driving my vehicle out to the airport so I can board my personal Gulfstream jet for a trip to the home in Aspen....

Liking this car more and more

My wife just got her turn to drive to dinner, and for the first time in oh about 8 years she elbowed me out of the way and wanted to also drive home haha (she typically doesn't like driving and always just heads to the passenger seat when we are together)

We had some other family members with us so I took the opportunity to spend some time riding in the 3rd row. I am 6 ft tall and it was really pretty comfortable. Not like "I'm really cramped but I am going to tell myself I'm not that cramped because I want to like my new car" but more like "wow this really isn't so bad back here....lots of headroom and a large enough 3rd window to avoid any feeling of claustrophobia, and my legs aren't even touching the seats ahead of me."
The fact that the rear seats have a few notches of recline helps too. I did notice what someone else was talking about in another thread...the 3rd row window was fogging up a little on the inside. Not a huge issue but I was thinking about the other thread when I saw it happening. Also interesting that the overhead reading lights seem to be touch-controlled rather than physical click-on/click-off. I also had an opportunity to try out the second row heated seat. It took a while to heat up but once it did it was quite warm. I feel like the heated front seats in our 2014 Accord work more quickly.

The GM at the Acura dealer did a great job of identifying his brand, and informed me that Acura is indeed an “American satisfaction” brand and that in Japan, there is no Acura, just Honda. The insult came when he tried pulling us over to his CPO MDX’s “maybe this is more in line with your means” type of statement. Bottom line is that, even if the MDX were cheaper in price, we wouldn’t have gone for it. We both didn’t like the fancy/ futuristic dash and electronics.

Same here—I just couldn’t get past that dash…

100%

I like the MDX but while riding in the 3rd row of our new Pilot last night it was confirmed I made the right choice for me. 3rd row very comfortable. I gazed on the 2nd row console with seat heater controls. The removable center seat same as the MDX. I looked at the little walkaway tailgate close button and recall seeing the exact same button in a picture at MDXers. I enjoyed the soft ambient lighting across the cabin and the LED reading lights. I looked further ahead to the front dash and much prefer the clean look vs MDX. Nice clean console that isn't space constrained with the silly trackpad and wrist rest that goes with it. And NO dumb giant chrome drive mode dial right smack in the middle of the whole dashboard.

I am really glad I didn't spring for the MDX about a year ago when I was looking, and chose to wait to see what the new Pilot was going to look like. For the price of a lower trim MDX I got much much more of everything with the Pilot Elite.

FAVORITE part? all the radar cruise/LKAS etc. I turned it all on for the highway ride home and was amazed at how you have all these little car icons alongside your Pilot icon on the dash, and the cars are the real actual vehicles being spotted by the system so you see what is in the lanes beside you as well as ahead of you, and the one you are tracking speed on is highlighted in green.
How is the adaptive cruise at being smart and not slamming on the brakes? I have 2016 Elite and if someone pulls in front of me (far away), it slams on the brakes when it doesn't have to unless they are really close. I hope they improved the adaptive cruise to be smoother. I have a 2012 Audi A6 with adaptive cruise that never slams brakes like the Pilot does and it's 4 years older.

How is the backseat ride? It's been a recent discovery that my kids get car sick in my 2016 Elite, so bad that I'm considering getting a different vehicle. My kids don't get sick in my wife's 2014 Outback. We usually take the Pilot on road trips and they would constantly complain of tummy aches, and my daughter has thrown up a decent amount over the years. My son says it feels like he's riding a rollercoaster. When we've taken the Outback, they have no complaints. We've had friends ride in the back seat that have also said the ride is 'floaty' or something as well. My wife and I both rode in the backseat during the test drive, but neither of us get car sick so we weren't phased. I was curious how it is in the new Pilot.
