YES
I was thinking this while driving....thinking I need to find the post about the "non existent temp gauge" and say ummmm, it's right there....it's not even part of the digital screen, it's there allllll the time haha
YESHey look, there IS an engine temp gauge.
Haha for sureFinally. Congrats Hogan, the most vocal guy on Piloteers and even more so on MDXers.
yes, I did. The sales guy is super nice but there was definitely deer in the headlights and "umm, I haven't heard anything about that". He did speculate (like I had) as to whether that was why my car was sitting around Alamaba for several weeks after being built while they waited to do the hitch PPO....perhaps they had an issue with those covers and were waiting several weeks to get the right ones?Hogan, were you able to ask your dealer about the hitch cover recall?
Thanks, I sure will. I won't have to do a DIY hitch but I will be doing DIY maintenance going forward.Congrats! You’ve provided a lot of great information on the 4th gens already so please stick around as you learn more and work with the vehicle.
I love the color combo, the silver and chrome gives it a premium look to my taste.
make sure you post up on the MDX forum what you got.
Good question re: the green bar spanning between 55 and 70 here. I also notice (not in this picture) that when the system picks up the local speed limit sign, it puts a little red carrot on the speedometer at the limit speed. I will do some driving with the ACC and see what that green bar is doing. The other green "haze" on the gauges is the Eco indicator that glows more when you are driving fuel efficiently. I turned that feature off later as I like a cleaner look and will drive however I drive, I don't need the green glow helping to guide me hahaMy 2022 Pilot has that feature too (carpet or plastic, reversable cover), it's a nice touch that you'll enjoy.
Quick question on your radar cruise control. On the speedometer pic below, the green carrot represents the set speed (70 MPH). Do you know if the green bar represents the speed of the vehicle in front you? In the picture below, it looks you are matching the speed of the vehicle in front of you. However, as you came up on the slower car, and before your Pilot began to slow, did that green bar show up on your speedometer (i.e., the white needle would have been on 70 MPH, and the left end of the green bar that appeared would have ended at 55 MPH). My GLE has that feature, and it's a great feature in my opinion as it gives you an indication of closing speed -- it also shows up on the HUD -- does it do the same on your Pilot HUD. It appears like your Elite Pilot may have those same features, have you noticed how it works?

Sharp eye my laddieAuto start- O F F !
yes it kind of makes it feel a little more capacious (like the Odyssey I'm coming from, although obviously the Odyssey has a REALLY deep trunk....)I didn’t realize that the rear cover can be installed at a lower level![]()
Ah so the green bar visualizes how much faster the car can potentially go vs where it is now.The green bar indicates the cruise set speed VS the adaptive radars actual speed. In this pic, the cruise is set to 70 but the adaptive is picking up the car doing 55 and following that.
Haha what do you think I am driving? An Acura? HahaOMG NO 😲 YOU CANT PARK THAT CAR AT A GROCERY STORE!! 🤣
Those parking spaces out in no man's land is for vehicles like this 🤟
Dunno need to have a couple beers and collect my thoughts. I don't know how to top My Shadow Hunter. All suggestions considered. And for some reason I never think of my cars as she and her hahaPossibly. More importantly, did you name her yet? 🤣
Haha yeah dudes are already spending thousands to mod their cars and I am looking for a plastic license plate frame haha, and I am gonna get myself some kind of ceramic spray too and start this car out right.Oh, you gotta go with midnight demon. It sounds rich and mean at the same time. Now all you need is some expensive acessories (IE: 24” rims, neon under glow, plastidip your emblems) and make sure you tell us how much it costs and how it makes the best SUV just that much better.
I can’t offer a ton of advise on this as I have never been a huge fan of plate frames. But that’s partially because I have a black plate that they no long make that is grandfathered in and I don’t wanna cover it up. Plus, I think no frame looks cleaner even with the screw heads showing. I just run a nice stainless steel screw to ensure they don’t corrode or rust.
It's sort of become a personal joke to me and maybe some others who have been on both sites. When I was cross shopping the MDX and Pilot and posting over on MDXers, there were a number of guys over there who are in apparent denial about the family lineage and similarity in platforms and performance between the Acura and the Honda. It was interesting to me to watch their reasoning for how the Acura is so much more different and "premium." I never claimed they were the same cars at all, or that the Pilot is better, but facts are facts and while I like the MDX a lot too, the 2023 Pilot, especially in the upper trims, gets to a very similar offering (all the features) plus it offers a more useable 3rd row, a less cluttered dash and console because it drops the "trackpad" thingy for a normal touchscreen, etc. Setting aside the Type S, the normal MDX has the same engine as Pilot and so is going to have basically same performance. So it was just interesting to hear the reasoning on why the regular MDX is such an undisputably "better" choice, and a lot of it resides in peoples' view of Acura as a brand, and maybe a little more upscale interior etc. This FRICTION with the MDX folk. Is this real? If you read one of my early posts, I explain that I was trying to brand stack and I thought the MDX was similar in platform to a Pilot, like American cars once were. Well, the folks at the Acura dealer weren’t thrilled when they learned the reason for my visit there- to learn about a more premium Pilot.
yes, I think that was the most disappointing (and triggering) thing for me....a few guys going from being super defensive of their "brand" to then outright dissing like because I was considering a Honda and especially because at one point I was considering the mid-trim rather than the top-trim, then I am just some poor sap who can't afford to even feed my family let alone buy a new car, and certainly I wasn't welcome at the "country club" where these MDXers were gathering. Not only was it insulting but it is a bit of an eye-roller that some of these guys wanna act like Acura carries some prestige like a Bentley or even BMW. I like Acura for what it is and I would be very proud to own one, but to me it would be because I am getting a very nice vehicle that also comes with the Honda build quality and expected reliability, not because I think that people are gonna assume I am driving my vehicle out to the airport so I can board my personal Gulfstream jet for a trip to the home in Aspen....I don’t think anyone wanted someone to say ”oh crap, I bought the wrong vehicle
Originally, there were some very constructive threads started to just talk about straight comparisons of both. I know Hogan, like myself, was considering both the MDX and the Pilot. So it’s pretty natural to try and research both on each board. I think it morphed into more then it should have been from the extreme overreaction from a lot of them.
The conversation quickly turned into “why would you ask Pilot VS MDX questions on this board“ all the way to “you’re just mad because you can’t afford an Acura”.
This was all in legitment threads to discuss which car might work better for someone. There was no open adult dialogue, just a bunch of entitled people telling you how poor you are. It was pretty comical actually.
Same here—I just couldn’t get past that dash…
100%The GM at the Acura dealer did a great job of identifying his brand, and informed me that Acura is indeed an “American satisfaction” brand and that in Japan, there is no Acura, just Honda. The insult came when he tried pulling us over to his CPO MDX’s “maybe this is more in line with your means” type of statement. Bottom line is that, even if the MDX were cheaper in price, we wouldn’t have gone for it. We both didn’t like the fancy/ futuristic dash and electronics.
