Problems can occur with anything that is machine produced. It's really not a huge issue as the warranty will certainly cover anything like this. It's an unfortunate situation for not only the customer, but for Honda as well. I'm sure they would prefer that none of the cars they produce have any issues. Such is life.;)

I guess the most important thing is Acura's attitude of not treating their customers well. I agree that problems occur with anything machine-produced but when they do, make sure that the customer is 'taken care of'

Hope this does not occur with Honda.

IMHO, I think you will find the following to be true [based on personal experience and stories from others]:

Acura seems to be 2nd rate [maybe 3rd rate] when it comes to customer service as compared to the likes of Lexus.

Honda is less expensive than Acura and provides service relative to its position. In other words, the service is less than that provided by Acura. I have personally had to file for arbitration against Honda due to their postition. Honda finally chose to do something about the problem at 4:30 pm the day before the scheduled hearing [after six months of hell].

Honda/Acura do, in my opinion, make great vehicles. Unfortunately, some small percentage will have a significant problem. This is where I believe that Honda/Acura fail the purchaser. Suggest you visit the MDX web site and search for the serious problems [engine sieze, transmission, etc.]. Occurances seem to be very infrequent; however, the message is mostly the same. The way I read it, they make it an unpleasant experience a real pain in the butt.

I Agree ...

There aren't any 100% when it comes to mass production products ... I am sure even Lexus's, Porches, and Ferraris have their lemons or bad fruits from the batch. A family member purchased the Benz ML 320 which in the course of two years had gone into the shop over ten times and died twice in the process ... because of this situation, in my eyes, I view MBs as POSs. Fortunately there is legal recourse regardless of how painful it is to take. I have always felt picking up a new car from the lot was like drawing straws. You're never really sure what you're gonna get. In the overall picture, as far as Hondas go, I think the majority of folks have had excellent experiences with Hondas which has brought the majority of us back to them
