Two thoughts/experiences with the Pilot blinkers:

> the auto-shutoff feature doesn't seem to pick up as easily as in my past vehicles
> the blinker sound seems awfully soft? Any ambient noise at all (radio, wind noise, etc.), and I just don't hear it.

The net result is that I feel like I am spending a lot of time auditioning for when I'm driving in my 80's (god willing). At random times I look down (while traveling on straight roads) and my blinker is flashing. Embarassing  .

At this point in time I don't think anyone will really notice that your blinker is on as they will be gawking at the Pilot as it rolls down the road :20: :20:

Maybe in a few months as they become more widespread that may change but for the time being your secret is safe with us!

Hmmm?

I don't have my Pilot yet, but that is the one complaint my brother has with his MDX.
Guess it may be design.
If it is that bad, maybe there is a market for an add-on blinker chime?

re: blinkers

I don't have either problem. I hear my blinker as long as I don't have the radio too loud and it turns off after every 90 degree turn.

Blinker

The only vehicle I had with a blinker reminder was my old Dodge Grand Caravan. It would begin to beep at you (pretty loud) if you drove 2 miles without turning it off.

I actually find that the Pilot has quite a few "clickers" that turn off the stick - even on a partial turn.

Why ?

Why would you want to hear the blinkers ... ? You could mount hood LEDs that flash with the blinkers, like the old Chrysler K cars, so you can see that you forgot to turn your blinkers off ... !

I thought this thread was pretty funny before I got my Pilot. Now I have to agree that the blinker is too quiet. The one in my Accord is much louder. I can not hear it very well if the radio is up or windows are open. Found myself today after having used it to merge into traffic on a long on-ramp that I forget it was still blinking.

I can think of two good reasons:

1. so you don't look like an idiot driving down the road with a turn signal on
2. to avoid accidents

If you are in an accident with your turn signal on when you were not turning (or turning the opposite way) and if the other driver claims that your signal is what caused them to pull out (or whatever they did to cause the accident), you can be considered partly responsible for the accident.

Ok ... Ok ...

Valid point made ... I agree the blinker noise is too soft ... but out of habit from riding motorcycles for so long ... I usually roll the windows down and use the hand and arm signals ... my problem is not turning the blinkers off but rolling the windows up and down constantly .... Thank GOD for the auto up and down feature in the window ...

;)

While we're on the subject, I really wished Honda put yellow rear turn signals on the Pilot. I'm sure when they freshen it up they'll add it, like they did on the Ody. Personally I like the yellow turn signals, its less confusing to the person behind.

I agree with the yellow turn signals. Mostly so far I have seen the "non-yellow turn signals" only on American cars and it is confusing between the brakes and the blinking red turn signals.

Completely agree with your post about soft blinker. At times I've felt like I'm in a Buick wearing one of those funny caps. Glad to hear it's not just me. Not the biggest of issues but it went into my 1st letter to Honda regarding suggested refinements.

Amber rear signals

I agree 100% on the yellow/amber signals. It is such a difference between all red lenses in back.

Normally, the Japanese are really good about the American manufacturer stick mainly to red.

I was mildy dissapointed in the all-red on the Pilot. Oh, well.
