I removed the door panel on my 2007 Honda Pilot. I removed all the screws holding the door actuator (72155-S5P-A11), the window railing that's in the way and all but one rod. There is a rod that goes from the actuator to right next to the door lock cam. I cannot see the usual clip to undo and release the rod. Can anyone explain how the mechanism for this one rod works?

But seeing that I got this far, I unplugged the wire harness from the actuator I can't remove yet, and plugged it into the replacement actuator. But when I lock/unlock, I can hear the motor going, but the tab on the actuator doesn't turn or move. Is it supposed to do something when not installed into the latch mechanism? Or could something else be the problem, not the actuator?
