Looking to put some new speakers in and, without cracking open the dash, wanted to find out if the stock stereo happens to have pre-amp outputs or if I need to buy an amp that has line level inputs.

Thanks,
John

I think the answer is "no" it does not. The Pilot radio has a built in amp. Here's a recent thread on the subject.

OEM Head Unit Question

Does the OEM Head Unit in the EX have pre-amp output terminals? I am going to upgrade the door speakers, subwoofer and add an amp, but keep the head unit for now, much like Luis did in thread: http://www.piloteers.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4437&perpage=15&pagenumber=3

In his installation, an Alpine MRV-F450 was used, but unlike the Alpine MRV-F340, it doesn't have a high level speaker input. I was wondering how the connections were made to the head unit? I know Luis had the store where he purchased the amp do the install. I was just curious if any of you who have switched out your head unit took a look in the back?...(of course you did). I've been searching through all the threads but can't find it mentioned.

On a separate note, has anyone here done business with http://www.discountsjungle.com ? Their prices are great compared to Crutchfield for the components I want, but sometime these things are "too good to be true" as they say. Just wondering if they were reliable.

Thanks for any help you can give,

NYCPilot

Too funny...here I thought Jay was being facetious and pointing a thread at itself. Silly me. :ucrazy:
