I was thinking about it. But when I were making measurement, I found it's not so practical. I am 5-10 and I think I need a high platform to put my bike on top of roof rack or take it down. I could do this at home, but then I need to carry my folding ladder with me in order to take down the bike at field.
Other than the pilot ads, I have not seen anyone carry bike on top of a high SUV like pilot.
Anyone did it? How do you do it?

We just take along a two step folding stool/step ladder.

It doesn't take up too much room in the back and makes the job much easier. Of course the real key is to take your time.

I've carried up to four bikes on my roof.

(I'm 6'5")

I have seen steps that hang over the rear tire for accessing the roof. They are easily stored inside while traveling.

2-step ladder will work great.
Not to steal your thread, but the rack that PrG has looks like a Yakima bike rack attached to the factory crossbars. What type of clip did he use to attach the bike rack to the crossbars? I have two Anklebiters and two Copperheads just sitting in my garage and I don't want to buy the Yakima crossbar and towers. I don't like the howling noise that it creates.
