This information is a compilation of my experiences and some from the acuramdx.org site.

Autowest - Fremont MSRP + $4-5k
Stevens Creek - San Jose MSRP + $4k
Capital Honda - San Jose MSRP + %6.5k
Menlo Honda - Burlingame MSRP + $4-5k

Hopkins - Sunnyvale MSRP + 0
Valencia Honda - Valencia MSRP + $4k

El Cerrito Honda - El Cerrito MSRP + $4k (forced options)

Bay Area Pricing

Pilot,

Are you sure on your pricing for Hopkins...I saw reports they were asking $4.5K and one guy said originally they'd promised him +$1k a while back and offered him a special price of $2.5K when they actually came in...he told them to kiss off...

BTW, a couple of us in the South Bay have ours on order at Merced Honda (through John Perry as the Salesman) at MSRP (and no forced options). I could have had a Silver EX on Saturday when they came in but elected to hold out for the Sagebrush they have on order for me.

davisdog:

I am not sure about Hopkins. That information was posted on acuramdx.org

Merced Honda - Yes I don't know how I forgot to include that !!

I was going to also post my experience in the dealer ratings section after I got the vehicle (today) from Merced. My salesman was Dave Carmack and my experience has been good so far.

MSRP + $89 for Wheel Locks

Yes, let us know how it goes out there...I'll be doing the same thing in a couple months when the sagebrush comes in...Wonder if you got my Silver...I was #2 on their list and they had one of the two silvers they got in set aside for me until I decided to hold out for Sagebrush. The Redrocks they got in also were appealing except the wife already has a chianti Red 2002 CRV-EX

They said I was the first one on their list. I signed the papers on Sunday and it is being fitted with the running-boards and should be here this evening.

Will let you know how it goes.

Dealer Forced Options - MPLS MN

I test drove a Pilot at Richfield-Bloomington Honda (Mpls MN). The I started talking to the salesguy about options. He informed me that I had to buy 1 of the following 3 packages. Check it out he is quoting a price Power Moonroof Option. (Too bad they want 2500.00 for a Moonroof.) These prices seems pretty excessive to me. So I will have to keep looking for a dealer who wants to sell me the vehicle I want.

Rick

I just hand coded this table from the other post. I think if you use the "quote feature" you can pretty simply edit in new info...<table border>

davisdog: Merced is added to the table. I had to pay MSRP + $89 for the Wheel locks (forced).

I will change Hopkins.

Honda World in Westminster, CA

I contacted almost all Honda Dealers in OC, and one in Corona, SoCal, and finally bought one from Honda World in Westminster. At the time they had 3 Pilots available. My wife prefered White. My son wanted Havasu Blue (at Norm Reeves in Huntington Beach). It looks to him like the old 91 Toyota Previa we once had. My little girl loved Red (Norm Reeves in Cerritos) --since she likes the 97 Red CRV I've been driving. They all want leather and RES/DVD. To me, any color will do except black -- Black doesn't seem to bring out the best in a Pilot ( I saw 2 at Norm Reeves in Cerritos). Some how a familiar image of a Back Jimmy from Cheverolet keeps poping in my mind.

:p
So here is the laundry list:
Silver Pilot EX-L RES/DVD MSRP+ with following chosen options (non forced like other dealers): Rear mud guards, Rear backup sensors, Cargo cover, Roofrack crossbars, Front air deflector, and Wheel locks. All installed at dealer cost. I also picked up a DC/AC inverted (150watt with two 110V receptacles) from Fry's for $19.00 for GamesCube, Walkie-Talkie charger, Camcorder charger, VCR player,...

My son tested his GameCube on the RES/DVD unit, and loved it. He wishes for a larger screen. As I understand a screen upgrade kit for Pilot with factory installed RES/DVD might become available real soon from http://www.rearseatvideo.com/ .

I suggest to those who live in the area and are still searching for the right price, you should give HW in Westminster a chance and stand firm on your offer. Cheers, JK:cool:

pcampbell_2000,

Yes, they are still selling at MSRP @ Merced (I think their policy is not to sell anything over MSRP, incl S2000's). My salesman is John Perry if you want to contact him. I understand they may have a few months wait depending on which one you are looking for since they sell them cheaper than many dealers in Calif. Anyway, never hurts to ask.

More Dealer Pricings

I have called several dealerships in the bay area and beyond... Here's what I found:

- Dublin Honda - MSRP + 2000
- Honda of Hayward - MSRP + 2000
- Livermore Honda Audi Subaru - MSRP + 2000
- San Leandro Honda - MSRP + 2000
- Winter Chevrolet/Honda (Pittsburg) - MSRP + 5000
- Tracy Honda - MSRP + 2995
- Steve Hopkins Honda(Fairfield) - MSRP + Forced Options (spoke to Al who was very pleasant)
- Honda Authorized Dealers (Stockton) - MSRP + Forced Options
- Lodi Honda - MSRP + 2995
- Honda of Vacaville - MSRP + Forced Options(about $1000) (spoke to JD who was very nice, no deposit, first come/first serve
- University Honda (Davis) - MSRP + 795 (for Interior/Exterior Seal)
- Mel Rapton Honda (Sacramento) - MSRP + $25 (mandatory for the wheel locks) - they were first come first serve also.
- Merced Honda - MSRP + 0

I went with Merced. I spoke to Sylvester who was very nice on the phone. I am on wait list for Silver EX-L w/ Nav. I hope the rest of my experience goes well. Merced is a longer distance than I wanted to travel, but from what I read they have the best deal. We'll see!!

I can't wait!!!!!

There is one thing I am missing here at a nubmer of the bonehead dealers. Is it better to sell no Pilots at $4-$5K over MSRP or all three of your Pilots at MSRP? I know you want to make the most profit possible but this is insane. What happened to having happy cutomers who don't feel like they were screwed? I've talked to three in Central PA and they all offered MSRP and even threw in some options installed for free!

banningjr,

Unfortunately there are enough knuckleheads out here in California that some of them are paying over MSRP to these dealers. I was driving next to an Havasu Blue Pilot yesterday on the freeway and didnt like the color, but even worse I noticed they'd bought it from Stevens Creek Honda and I guarantee they'd paid at least a couple grand over MSRP (but probably felt good that they'd gotten the dealer down from +$4K :(

It’s amazing; some people just don't know how to shop for anything! When an hour or two on the phone could have saved them thousands. The funny thing is these people are either just ignorant or they don't care( they had the satisfaction of getting what they wanted when they wanted).
