When your pilot is sitting cold, is the coolant level up over the fins of the radiator when you remove the radiator cap and look in the hole? Mine never seems to be even with the overflow filled just below max. Curious if that’s normal.

The coolant system uses the negative pressure from the coolant cooling to draw it into the radiator from the reservoir.

Is the pickup tube for the reservoir intact?

Yes, tube is in tact and tested, but after new radiator / cap / thermostat we can't figure out why ours doesn't pull the fluid back in to bring it up to the top of the radiator cap. Obviously a head gasket is a concern, but the chemical test is negative everytime.
