Has anyone noticed a mechanical click coming from the steering column, specifically from the box directly behind the steering wheel, when the vehicle is in park and you depress the break pedal ? I have and it is annoying me ... off to the dealer again ... what a way to spend a Saturday ....

The "click" you are hearing sounds like the transmission lock (for lack of a better term). In order to put most, if not all current automatic equipped vehicles in gear you have to depress the brake and then shift. The "click" is the point where you have depressed the brake pedal far enough to activate the gear selector.

If you try to shift before you hear the click I would bet it won't change gears. Our Civic does the same thing.

Just something you'll have to get used to :D

I think ...

you are correct ... but it is supposed to be audible ... perhaps its just my sensitivity to a new vehicle but I hadn't noticed it before. Does anyone elses PILOT make the same noise ?

Click

Noticed mine yesterday. That is exactly what it is - the release that allows you to put the vehicle into gear.

I sat there and tapped the brake pedal several times and it clicked each time.
