Hi all,
I have a 2011 Pilot LX with black upholstery. With heavy kid hauling duty the material has gotten quite filthy. I've got general dirt stains and what appears to be water stains; round, grayish stains. Any suggestions on the best way to clean this material? Ideally I can do this myself on a regular basis without relying on expensive detailing. It gets pretty dirty so I need to clean it regularly. I've had it just a year but it's already looking a mess. Any suggestions for cleaning the console and other plastic areas are much appreciated. Thank you!

For plastic we use to use watered down simple green at a detail shop we worked at and mothers back to black on a ALL the plastic inside. Used a terry cloth applicator pad and quips to do the ac vents. If it wasn't stained or caked up with **** the mothers would clean up water spots, heavy stuff like dried soda which becomes soda you need to soak a while

If you have woven-upholstery, then I'd check out this vid on some tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OctATW1dz8. Woven fabric is much harder to clean and you have to be gentler. Once you get it to where you want it you should use a Fabric protector like Aerospace 303 Fabric Guard. If it's nap, then you can use an upholstery brush to agitate pretty aggressively.

I'd stay away from Simple Green as it's very strong even diluted and a little hard on your lungs (low health risk#1 on MSDS). Best upholstery cleaner I've heard about is Folex from Home Depot/Lowes (the AutoGeek guys love it). I just picked some up and intend to try out (http://www.folexcompany.com/wp-content/themes/folexcompany/MSDS_1-29-2010.pdf)

For the dash/console, get some Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer or Meguiars DUB Clean & Shine. They can be used on plastic/vinyl/leather/nav screens. If you need a good APC for additional cleaning power, then check out Eco Touch's APC/degreaser or Method's APC for something that doesn't have to be rinsed (as most APC's need to be)
