Chrome/Silver Delete Discussion

Wanted to start a discussion about replacing OEM parts or vinyl wrapping to remove the silver and chrome on certain trims since the US didn't get a Black Edition. So far I've replaced the upper grill trim and emblems on the rear and powder coated the wheels black. I also purchased a black rear bumper panel to replace the silver when my hitch is installed next week. I have an appointment to get some other items wrapped later this month. Here are some part numbers if anyone is interested:

  • Rear AWD Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-T90-100A
  • Rear Elite Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-THR-100G
  • Rear "H" Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-T90-100
  • Grille Accent Trim (top of grille) Gloss Black - 08F21-T90-100A
  • Black Trailer Hitch Panel - 08L92-T90-100B (I don't have this installed yet but pretty sure it will work on the Elite w/ new kick sensor)

Other Items - These parts are UNCONFIRMED. I believe they are the rights parts but I haven't seen parts diagrams for these. I was provided the part numbers over the phone. Also, I have no information on how involved the installation may be.
  • Left and Right front bumper garnishes - 71102-T90-A10 / 71107-T90-A10
  • Left and Right front door garnishes - 75332-T90-A21 / 75312-T90-A21 (I believe there are garnishes for the rear doors as well but don't have the part numbers yet)

oh interestingly enough, ALL the parts are available and in NJ....? anyone that works for Honda knows what's in NJ?
It really sucks that Honda is making you do all this DYI black trim, and they already have a black edition ready to go in Canada.
I have the full list of items. Will make a new post so it's not buried on the fifth page of a discussion.

I have one more piece to finish then exterior for black edition. But the fake exhaust trim is still in backorder. 🙄🙄

Ooh that could look cool to make them more subtle. Is that something I could just paint? (with what kind of paint?)

I really don't think it matters too much, but if you go that route, you will want to use an adhesion promoter to prep it for whatever you decide on. I would imagine some semi-gloss black would look good. Personally, I think its more hassle than its worth to paint it, I would just vinyl wrap it instead.

Main issue is i still can't find a confirmed method of removing them to do anything. very frustrated, this car is so close to being completely blacked out

If you figure it out let us know

This will probably be a long list of things that I would theoretically do but won't actually do haha
What is the offset on these accessory wheels? they look poked out. Or maybe spacers?

They are the same as the stock wheels (50)

Just added the front bumper trim and left and right garnishes. Took me 3 hours. I never want to do that again!

Did you have to remove the bumper?
As a tech for over 15years I thought it would be easy and not need to remove the front bumper and doing in my garage vs my job where I have a lift. It took me over an hour of getting upset, being very careful and struggling because the taps need to be release from the inside of the bumper. It’s not a pull hard and the taps release type of trim. I suggest you remove the front bumper which would off been quicker and easier but I didn’t want to wait till today to install at work. But after release all the screws and taps from under the vehicle, I was able to squeeze my hands and release each tap and slowly pull with barely any space between the bottom of the bumper and the framing of the vehicle.
If you had to guess, would removing the bumper from the ‘23 Pilot be any easier than the previous generation? (I am not sure if I would want to tackle that…)
