Wanted to start a discussion about replacing OEM parts or vinyl wrapping to remove the silver and chrome on certain trims since the US didn't get a Black Edition. So far I've replaced the upper grill trim and emblems on the rear and powder coated the wheels black. I also purchased a black rear bumper panel to replace the silver when my hitch is installed next week. I have an appointment to get some other items wrapped later this month. Here are some part numbers if anyone is interested:

  • Rear AWD Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-T90-100A
  • Rear Elite Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-THR-100G
  • Rear "H" Emblem Gloss Black - 08F20-T90-100
  • Grille Accent Trim (top of grille) Gloss Black - 08F21-T90-100A
  • Black Trailer Hitch Panel - 08L92-T90-100B (I don't have this installed yet but pretty sure it will work on the Elite w/ new kick sensor)

Other Items - These parts are UNCONFIRMED. I believe they are the rights parts but I haven't seen parts diagrams for these. I was provided the part numbers over the phone. Also, I have no information on how involved the installation may be.
  • Left and Right front bumper garnishes - 71102-T90-A10 / 71107-T90-A10
  • Left and Right front door garnishes - 75332-T90-A21 / 75312-T90-A21 (I believe there are garnishes for the rear doors as well but don't have the part numbers yet)

Following as well. I've ordered the 3 emblems and top front grille trim, but want to order the rest when it becomes available.

Any idea how much a shop would charge me to install all of those parts?
Don’t pay anyone to do this. The grille trim takes 20 mins and it’s just clips and push pins. Grab a trim tool and take your time. It’s easy.

My emblems gave me no trouble. They pulled off cleanly and left no residue (probably because it’s a brand new car). I applied light heat with a heat gun and taped off a border around them so I knew where to put the new one. There are YouTube videos you can watch to help.

I have been considering doing a chrome delete on my 2022 SE in Modern Steel Metallic. Mostly I'd like to wrap the side window trim. With the gloss black wheels and roof rails the window trim is the only thing that sticks out when looking at the car's profile. I've noticed just about every other SUV on the road has the same chrome window trim and I think a chrome delete would really take the looks of my Pilot to another level.

The front grille trim and the 3 rear emblems (presumably all the OEM items?) – anything else?
For blacking out, yes sir. There are other exterior accessories but don't assist in removing the chrome/silver (ie: running boards, splash guards, cross bars, etc).

I'm interested to see someones powder coated rims or aftermarket rims. Or even the fender flares to add some more black.

Does your H emblem lay perfectly flat? I may have to pick up another one. The inside of the H is raised a little on mine.

I’m assuming you just looked for a powder coating shop locally? How much was it and what did it run you if you don’t mine me asking?
Yes. There’s only one shop near me that does it. I paid $600 for the powder coating but thankfully the dealership let me borrow some wheels from a 2022 Pilot for a few days and didn’t charge me to take the tires off and on.

I have a 2022 SE in black and did do the chrome delete with vinyl I purchased on Amazon. The 2.5” 3M rolls works great for the doors. I purchased sheets for the rear windows so it was one smooth piece too. Time and patience is key for the bottom window trim since it has rubber along the edge and needs a steady hand to align it. Mine isn’t 100% perfect, but it is pretty darn close. I redid them several times to get it as close as I can. It made a big difference though. You can see before and after

3M strips
2 inches x 25 Feet 3M 1080 2080... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N6M8WPP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Vinyl sheets
3M 1080 Gloss Black Air-Release... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M2C9KKI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I did tailight wraps too to black out the back of the car.
VViViD Extra-Wide Headlight... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083LF6Z7X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I ended up plasti-dip spraying the emblems black and they have been working out great for the last 9 months. I did it before on my Acura and it lasted for years. It is easy to remove too.
