So I was looking around where the power steering fluid is and found this black ring sitting on the engine bay. Wondering what it is and if it’s of any importance.

The first pic is of where it was, below the A/C port. The other 2 are of the ring itself

I haven’t come across that on my 2005. Any chance it came from somewhere on the bottom side of the hood?

What is it made out of? Rubber? Rubber coated metal? It looks like a seal. Not an O ring type, but like a tap in type for a bearing of some kind. Have any work done? Maybe mechanic left it.

It’s just rubber. Haven’t had work done. It could have been there for a while and I just now noticed it. It wasn’t really dirty and it didn’t have oil residue on it...I guess it’ll remain a mystery.

I know it is a long shot but it could possibly be:

- brake fluid reservoir gasket

- oil cap gasket

- gasket for the back of the headlamp

Notify us when you find out ...inquiring minds want to know haha

Good Luck

peace

I'm about to go check, but it seems like the oil cap gasket to me as well.
