DVD Alternatives

When we bought our Silhouette, we opted out of the entertainment package because it added about $2500 to the cost of the car. We instead, jury rigged a 9" ac/dc TV/VCR combo on the floor between the front seats and were plenty happy. This time we are going with the factory RES, mainly because there is no room between front seats, but really because it's pretty cool. With the portable units, you would almost have to buy two to keep everybody happy. Also, the wireless headsets and remote control are pretty neat. Not to mention, a lot less clutter in the vehicle.

I had to bring this topic back up because we purchased the Audiovox DVD bag unit and can not get it to power up. I tried the rear and front power outlets without success. Anyone else have any problems with the power outlets?

I paid $349.00 for a portable/handheld dvd player with 7 inch widescreen at Best Buy. Mintek 1710. It ain't the best, but it gets you there.

The DVD did play in my father-in-law's truck. I have not tried another device in the outlets. Will do this evening after work.

... the power points only work when the ignition is ON.

Ignition was on and vehicle was running. My wife just checked the cellphone auto power cord and it's working. Must have been something with the plug and/or connection with the DVD. I'll take it back to Circuit City for a refund.

Thank you for all the responses.
