Cargo Tray and Floor Mats

So as part of my deal the guy threw in the Honda All Weather mats and "cargo tray" (I said no thanks to Wheel Locks)

At this point I don't think I will have use for the cargo tray. I could see it being useful for someone that often folds down the 3rd row seats and does haul stuff. I may sell it locally (too big to ship). Will think on it

The Honda All Weather Mats are nice as they say "Pilot" on them. A little "weather-tech-y" for me but glad to have them at this time of year so I don't ruin carpet mats with dirt and salt. If an Aries / 3D option comes out I might look at those and sell the mats.

I put Weathertech mats in almost immediately after buying my 22. It's the first thing I will forever do with a new car. I can't believe how much dirt gets tracked into the car even when I'm being careful. Without those mats it would just be ground into the carpet.

are the pilot mats thick? they've been so thin on acuras and hondas in the past that I was planning on buying the weathertech ones but its not available yet!

I have the entire cargo liner and seat back protectors on mine and it's totally worth it.

They seem thick enough to me but I haven't looked closely. Will check out tomorrow

They seem thick enough and not a huge difference from Weathertechs or the other quality all weather mats. The only big difference is they don’t have the high sides.

As for reliability, my wife has the OEM Acura mats in her MDX (identical to my OEM Pilot mats) and they’ve held up great over the last 5+ years. There is no more visible wear on those as there was on any of our old sets of Weathertechs.

Anyone used Tuxmats? They are also all weather and is pretty good as far as coverage. I think slightly more coverage than the weather tech mats but not as rigid. I don’t see them available for the 2023 Pilot yet. Any other brands recommended for all weather mats outside of OEM? I may go with OEM all weather cargo mats though.

I like the Aries 3D Maxpider Kagu styles that I have on my older Accord

Question is whether worth it to switch when newer options come out or just stick with the OEMs that I just got for "free" (after paying almost 60 grand haha)

I’d stick to OEM if it’s free! My car came with no accessories so have to purchase everything separately.

I have tuxmat on my current car, pretty nice looking with incredible protection.

Yup. I've even been known to order WeatherTech mats (or Husky Mats) before the car is even delivered. Can't live without them. The last 4 cars I've had were SUVs and gotta' have an all weather mat.

The Tuxmats do look really nice, but I think I would get frustrated undoing all the extra clips when taking them out for a cleaning. I've had a couple sets of Weathertech mats, but I don't like how they grey over time, and any products to restore them are slippery. I think I'm going to try Husky this time around. Or I just Scotchguard the crap out of the factory mats and carpet. 😁
If it's helpful to others, here are pix of the OEM Honda all-weather mats.

Since they were "free" to me I will obviously use them for now. If something better comes along where I could sell these on Facebook to swap in something else I would consider it.

There is a "lip" around the back and sides which is good. However, do other all-weather mats cover the dead pedal? Or get up under the accelerator pedal? As you can see, these leave carpet exposed in both spots. I like that it says "Pilot" I guess. I don't love the rubbery-geometric styling that much but I'm sure all the Weathertech fans will. I like the smoother "carbon fiber" look of the Aries 3D/Maxpider that I have for our Accord. I think TuxMat is more like those.

Can already see the dang dog hair coming from my shoes from our house haha - dogs will not be in this vehicle for a long time but they've already managed to make their mark haha

Thanks for the images. The coverage is my concern like you mentioned. Leaves a lot of exposed carpet which I don’t like. I think OEM cargo one is doable as it seems to fold if you have the 3rd row up. The Aries 3D look very similar to the TuxMat but the problem is no one has it for the Pilot yet (aside from OEM). Any ideas for a temp solution before the manufactures start making them for the pilot?
The Husky mats do have a larger lip on them than the WeatherTechs (I've had both). The lip on the Husky was almost 2 inches. The only think was that the lip was also on the door side so you had to make sure you lift your leg/foot up enough to get over it. But I don't think I've ever seen a mat that covers the footrest/dead pedal.

They feel thick, but softer than the weathertech ones. My plan is too use them as a place holder until weathertech or husky liners are avaiable. The OEM mats were purchased $168 from Safford Brown instead of college hills because im local (no shipping fees) and it looks like Safford Brown has a bigger discount on them too compare to college hills.

Looks like most accessories are cheaper than Bernardi or College Hills.

I didn't use any of the clips, the fit is pretty good you really don't need them.

I could never figure out why the two places you set your feet are left unprotected...

Did you also get the cargo tray? Unlike Weathertech, I like the fact that you are able to have access to the storage bay without having to lift up the mat.

yeah I know. In my Accord the Aries 3D is nice but there is that nice layer of salt caking on the carpet right around the dead pedal.

I do have the cargo tray. It is sitting beside me in the home office. I'm not really sure how I am supposed to use it, especially when I have that trunk piece in the lower position. Honestly I am considering selling it off. I guess it could be useful to keep for times when I pop down the 3rd row seats to haul something. That probably won't happen all that often though and I could always just throw a tarp down when it does. Maybe I am not understanding how I am supposed to use this 3-fold tray thingy

I know what you mean. The thought crossed my mind that it may be useful to remove the trunk piece altogether for hauling groceries. However, I highly doubt if someone would ever come up with a mat that only covers the third row seatbacks when they are folded down.

I just am confused about what it is supposed to be used for, especially when the trunk is in the "low" position which is where I think I will leave mine....I like the little "well" that is created as I think it will better hold the grocery bags etc from sliding around, but we'll see. I may need to store the folding chairs underneath which would then mean the floor needs to move to the high position.
