My pilot seems to have about 1/4" side to side freeplay in the brake pedal arm. If you put your hand on it it will move that much. I did not notice it but my wife has very small feet and usually only uses the right side of the pedal. She thought the brake pedal cover was not secure because she felt it rocking. Once you apply the brake fully the freeplay goes away. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I felt it in 2 pilots I test drove, and mine does it too.
It depends on the angle you press it from.

I hadn't

noticed until now ... but mine does too ... doesn't seem to be an issue unless I deliberately move it from side to side ....

Wiggling brake pedal

Mine too. Not really a big deal. If someone hadn't brought it up, I never would have noticed it.

I have to wonder if the MDX or the Ody has this play? My shoe actually got caught on the brake this weekend and getting it off took and extra second because the play allowed it to move with my shoe. I know it was only a second but hey I may need that second to stop some time. I think I will check it with the dealer next visit.

I sense the problem on other Pilots and MDXs as well. Just recently, I noticed it on a 2001 Focus SE and a 1998 Civic LX but not as apparent. I checked under the steering column and it seems to be "normal", meaning the arm is a ONE piece unit without joints/connections. I'm bringing the our EX-L Pilot for service next Wednesday (20020731). Hopfully they can explain/verify this.

Mt parents have an Ody and it has the same amount of play. Never been a problem for my parents or me.
