He responded to my ad of me seeking crossbars. Provided his email and sent pictures of the crossbars. I sent him PayPal via friends and family. Then sends email he was robbed of all his money. He is in the hospital. Then ghosts after the email seeking tracking information.

Another way to avoid this besides not sending friends and family is to have them take a picture with date and their user name with the part.

If they want to sell it and it’s legitimate they will do that.

Dear anawabi, I do emphatise and share your malaise as I have been scammed and got robbed of $133 via Zelle over my posting to buy a pair of cross bars for my 2003 Pilot off Piloteers Marketplace/Classifieds section.

You should report it to the police.
Scammers are crazy on here right now.
I almost got scammed on here trying to buy a Steering wheel. There were just too many red flags this guy was triggering.
Don't ever send payment through anything but PayPal goods and services, that way you have some security and way to get a refund if they aren't real!
Any real seller will pay the fee!
The following link is to the for sale post that I was almost scammed by, the original poster was the scammer, beware this seller!
Finally someone with a genuine item messages me and was willing to use PayPal goods and services and our transaction was real and I got the part I wanted! So lesson learned for me luckily without any loss but it could have gone the other way.
