Just curious, but why didn't Honda decide to place the 17" tires which work on the MDX on the Pilot's?

I don't have any issues with the 16 inchers, but would it be possible and are there any benefits to putting on 17" tires (not changing the width of course)?

Also, are there 16" tires from other manufacturers that would work better (i.e. increased fuel economy, speed increase, reduce road noise, better handling, etc) than the stock 16 inchers that came on my Pilot EX? I don't do much offroading, but would like to improve just the same for everyday use.

Thanks.

I would guess that Honda put 16 inch tires on the Pilot for two reasons.

1) They are cheaper than 17 inch tires
2) They provide a softer ride than 17 inch tires

17 inch wheels and tires will provide better handling at the cost of a slightly less smooth ride.

There are a lot better choices for replacement 16 inch tires. I still have my goodyear integrities because I can't bring myself to throw away tires before they are worn out. I believe that Honda is now putting on Bridgestones as original equipment which are probably a little better than the Goodyears.
