So I'm going in for a timing belt / water pump / tensioner service at the end of the month. Normal service as expected. Just wondering if it's any easier to replace the ATF filter while the engine is open for the timing belt service? If all I have to do it pay a couple of dollars for the part perhaps I wouldn't have to pay much in labor if there is lots of room to work. My gut tells me no but I figured I'd put this out there for anyone that knows.

No.
The ATF filter is under the battery tray.
