Anyone know what the anti theft system does exactly? I know there is a chip in the key so that you can start the pilot but what happens if you try to hot wire the car or use a copied key?

any other info whould be great

thanks rob

As far as I know the alarm that is standard on the EX does a couple things.

It has a starter kill, the ignition should not be able to be started with a screwdriver or anything - it needs to have the chip in the key. The key itself is also can not be cut at the local home depot.

If you were to smash a window and open the car from the inside you should have the light flash / horn honk along with the starter kill.

Now the bad news - people who know what they are doing can steal anything. Even car alrms are stolen out of cars with with radios. If you know anything about aftermarket installation you would be amazed how easy it is.

I have not seen a recent report to see if the chips going in keys now have helped but I know Accords were hot on the theft list at one time.
