I'm adding another power outlet way forward in the center console behind the not an ashtray. Also an Aux jack to the blitz. The new outlet has a red wire with no connector and a block wire with an "O" type connector. My plan is to just splice it in on the back of the existing power outlet on the dash/console. Before I rip all this out and then find I need to go to radio shack....Anybody done this and have any tips or knowledge of special connectors or connection points

TIA

What do you plan to run from this outlet?

If you want either high current or always on, you will need to wire it another way.

Then yes, the power outlet hot, or radio hot should be fine places to pick up power.
I would probably attach the ground to a screw going into metal rather than cut a ground wire.

Now you have me worried!

I would use the crimp on "skotchlok" connectors sold at RadioShack and most hardware stores for the hot side.

I would still recommend that you find a scew to put the ground under, but I know people who have used skotchlok connectors on grounds also.

Or stop a good stereo installer and ask for some help.
Be nice and it will only cost a few $$.

I have an adapter that I think I bought at Radio Shack or Best Buy that makes one outlet into 3.
